Alright, what would you suggest for a smaller gun than the Glock 21 SF .45 for something that would be suitable for concealed carry, with less recoil, and preferably in the $600 or less (new) range?

We'd prefer not to buy used.

the problem is, for the size you need for concealed when not wearing winter clothes you have to either take the extra recoil or go with something that you might as well be carring pepper spray.....like a 25 acp. there are some 32's that aren't too bad, with the right self defense ammo.

Glock 26. Holds 10+1 of 9mm. Nice, small gun.

I have an lcp, love it. I don't find the recoil that bad at all. It's not a range gun anyway. The ruger lc9s pro is another good one to look at.

In a slightly larger package, the Springfield Mod.2 xd series packs a lot of wallop in a fairly small package. It comes in 9mm, .40 and .45.

A friend has a xd .45. Nice gun imo.
Pretty acurate for a short barrel.

Smith and Wesson M&P Shield (I regularly carry one of these), S&W M&P 9c (my favorite carry gun) Glock 43, Glock 26, Ruger LC9, Springfield XDs - range in price from $325-ish for the Ruger to $500-ish for the Glock 26. All are 9mm, avoid the .40 in small guns, it's got more recoil and more expensive ammo. S&W Bodyguard if you want pocketable, it's the softest shooting pocket .380 I know. Actually, the SIG P238 is the softest shooting, but it's $700-ish, and since it's single action it has a more complex manual of arms. I prefer a simpler pistol for concealed carry. There is also the tried and true standard of a small .38 caliber revolver - easy to shoot, easy to operate, dead nuts reliable, and has stopping power. If you go with something pocket sized, get a pocket holster for it.

I have the XD40. It's probably snappier than you are describing. Also have the Lcr in 38sp. Also pretty snappy since it's so light. The trigger pull is fantastic on it though. And easily concealed.

I'm definitely on an FBI watch list now.

Just bought each of us a S&W M&P 9mm Shield.

Thanks Aahzz. :embarrassed:

And now my Jeep fund is back down to buying a hoopty.

Looks like I'll have to stop buying guns and ammo and start saving for my Jeep again.

I also bought 700 rounds of ammo. That along with the 140 or so rounds we have for the .243 and the .270, and the 350 or so rounds we have for the .45 should make for a fun day at the range this weekend.

I need to downsize my guitar and amp collection, but if/when I do, it'll go to the Jeep fund.

I swear, no more guns for a long time.

I swear.

Honest.

I want a Wrangler. Preferably a TJ (97-06) with a 4.0 6 cylinder and manual transmission, with less than 100k miles and no body or frame rot.

It's a unicorn.

If I can't find a TJ I'm willing to pay the premium for, I'll just keep saving until I can buy new.

This followed me home from Gander Mountain last night...

...you're not a real gun guy until you have one of these...

Ruger Sp101 in .357Magnum...
