I would never hunt in PA. Every jackass in the state is out there blindly shooting into bushes because they thought they heard a noise.

not every person in the state is a jackass. actually most of the jackasses are from ohio, michigan, new york, west virginia and maryland. they all come in to hunt deer.
the locals know what they're doing and usually wait until a couple days AFTER opener, when the deer settle down.

That's amazing.

All of the idiot hunters in WV are from out of state, too.

I know you're not talking about me. I don't hunt!

The Monday before thanksgiving is our buck opening day.

It's big business here, too.

Maybe it is the same jackasses just traveling around hitting all the opening days!

i wouldn't doubt that there are some who go all over to kill deer. there are plenty of Pa. people who act like jackasses on opening day. i don't know what it is. if it's some kind of hunter/gatherer genetic that kicks in or they're just raised badly, but when opening day comes they go into this "gotta kill a deer.....gotta kill a deer.....gotta kill a deer" mode and anything that moves gets shot (or shot at).
i (used to) know guys up there that were carrying 300 Win. Mag's for deer season, and a good sized buck up there is like 180 lbs, and i'm going "what the HELL do you need a 300 mag for? and they actually said "so in case i miss and hit him in the ass, he'll still go down". i mean WTF??

don't go to the fuckin range during the summer and LEARN how to shoot. fuck no.....just get the biggest magnum rifle you can handle and just start blasting.

this is why i don't hunt any more. not because i'm against it. i'm against assholes who act like they "just HAVE to kill sumthin'".
(rant over)

I don't even hunt anymore but I've had friends from all over basically tell the same stories; it's not specific to one state or one region. IMO if you're going to hunt, you have a responsibility to use an appropriate caliber with the appropriate skill to take your game in as humanely a manner possible.

I'm fortunate to have access to some nice private property with only a few hunters who are all responsible.
I probably wouldn't hunt if I had to do it on public land with so many jagoffs

I hunt on my own property, we've got just over 34 acres. I don't have to buy a license, which is nice. We have our share of road hunters and chuckleheads up this way, but it's not bad enough that it makes me want to give it up. Since I just turned 50 I can start using a crossbow during bow season; kind of excited about that.

Ok. Back to guns.

A little more fuel for my airgun gas.

Feinwerkbau 80 match pistol. Ridiculously accurate. Came with the original factory acceptance target with one hole 5 shot group at 10m. I can get ragged one hole groups from a rest. One handed I can shoot less than an inch group. Hoping to do a little low key ag silhouette with this (and some practice).

It is indeed a Single Six with convertible cylinders...just had it at the range and it is a blast to shoot...

...pun intended...

Can you shoot shorts in that Ruger? I think my son had one of those, very accurate pistol.

Yes, in the 22 LR cylinder.
Subsonic shorts are great in a revolver. All the fun, none of the noise.
I lubs me some Ruger single six.
