NFL 2017-18 Thread

Eagles pick up RB Jay Ajayi from Dolphins for a 4th round pick. Great trade as Ajayi is signed for next year and the Eagles don't have a 2nd or 3rd round pick So getting a starting RB for a 4th rounder makes sense. We are going to make a serious run.

Yes but what does that mean for Lagaute Blount? I may need to drop someone on my FF team maybe he's now irrelevant

I saw him play a few games on TV in his college days (E. Illinois...Tony Romo's alma mater) He had a fantastic arm, could really zip the ball in between defenders. And while not a "running" QB, had pretty good mobility.

Granted he isn't going to make some of those throws in the NFL, players are just that much better. If he learned anything at all by sitting behind Brady for what, 3 or 4 years now? he should do more than OK.

Yeah, barring some unforeseen events, I think they possibly have solved the QB issue in SF. Now for the rest of the team.

Well for this year...maybe. He is a free agent at the end of the year and seemed pretty non committal on the long term. I'm actually a bit surprised that they made the move. They could have waited till the end of the season and signed him as a FA without giving up any picks. It's not like they are going to make a run for the playoffs now. And I remember another Brady back up that got big bucks as a FA...who is he backing up now???

Ajayi will likely get more touches. Blount isn't a starter for me if everyone is healthy. I'll probably hang on to him for now

I thought they were pretty up front that he was brought in to be 'the guy', as long as it all works out, and not to necessarily fix this season. He made it clear to NE that he wanted to play, and it's likely if SF didn't grab him now he would have been gone somewhere else.

Or they could have gotten Kirk Cousins when the Skins muck it up again.

Well, if SF can't sign him to a deal, they can franchise tag him. Their current situation makes that a win for them (e.g., they are not looking at cap troubles for next year). So Jimmy Sunshine will be there at least a year and a half. Depending on what transitions he sees, he may well want to hang around and see how it pans out. If I were him, I'd be happier going to SF than, say, Jacksonville or Chicago.

Yep. I don't think they will have a problem signing him should they choose to. He pretty much got handed the keys, it's his for the taking. I'm glad they aren't pressuring him to 'save' this season, but rather letting him take the time to learn the system in the hopes he can be the future of the franchise for the coming decade. But of course he needs to do some winning once he does take the ball, and to do that they need to beef up the rest of the team around him. So, we'll see.

No way, Jax is a way better spot than San Fran. Jacksonville is leading the league in rushing, their defense is number 6 in the league. The only thing they lack is a QB.

Plus the weather in Jax is better and no state income tax

There is no way in hell the weather is better in Jax than Santa Clara. We haz none of that sticky humidity shit. The Niners haven't played in SF in years.

He's ours now, move along. And you can keep that Cousins dude too.

Does it get below 60 degrees for more than 2 weeks a year? If so Jax is better. Buy a house on the ocean in Ponte Vedra Beach and the ocean breeze negates any humidity.

Cousins will probably end up in Jax. If so, they will have a much better record than the Niners next year
