I think the Belichick / Brady relationship is strained. And in part, I think BB doesn't care for the whole International Superstar bit, and Tom's horizons have widened to where he sees you don't have to be a ruthless dictator to be successful.
I'm sure he wanted to move on from Brady. But not entirely sure why - because Brady is one of the all time great advantages, not just for his on field performance, but because he has essentially donated cap space back to the team for the last decade.
