National Football League 2018

Always been curious. Are Elway and Gary Busey twins separated at birth?

I do believe that somewhere in this thread I said Cleveland would be better than people thought.

Making the Jets look bad on national TV is just gravy.
I agree, they have so many 1st and 2nd round picks on their team, there's no reason they shouldn't be good. I think a lot of it is just overcoming the culture of losing that they've been living under for so long. Hopefully last night will be the start of that. I'd like to see Cleveland be relevant.

Bears beat the Cardinals. A game they were supposed to win. I think they play Tampa next week. They will really, really have to improve by then to have a snowball's chance.

… and, just checked Google cuz I couldn't stay up that late, The Lions beat the Patriots?

I can't remember the last time the Patriots looked that bad. Even when Brady was out, they were better than last night.

They're really missing a deep threat. Definitely missing Cooks. Someone will either have to step up, or they need to get another guy. Right now it seems to be Gronk and not much else.

The Patriots are going to struggle to make the playoffs this year. The problems are multiple. Gronk confirming his retirement threat in the face of a possible trade to Detroit (!!!! - WTF are you thinking, Belichick?) shows that there's problems that run deeper than X's and O's.

I'm frankly sick of the Belichick Patriots. As a Masshole/Boston fan, first loyalty is always to the Nation and fellow tribe members. Coaches and players need to work their way into our hearts.

Somehow, despite the enormous success of the team over the past 15 years (or perhaps because of it?), Belichick has worn very thin on me. The cheerlessness, even in the face of great victory -- really, what are sports for if not enjoyment? I've seen A Football Life and read and seen material suggesting that he's a decent guy outside of a press conference, but the endless shittery making anything less than a 13-win season and AFCCG appearance just isn't fun.

At the beginning of the season I thought the Pats were going to be terrific. Injuries to Tre Flowers and Patrick Chung have made the defense look slow and just bad. Belichick was always known for managing roster depth, and the guys who've had to step up ... haven't.

Pats games in November and December used to be appointment TV for me, but maybe not so much any more.
