It's yellow.

Very cool too. But yellow.

And the beat goes on . . .

Worked on it again today. First thing i did was shorten the throttle cable, so now thats all done.

I Installed the chrome buckets for the headlights and wired them up.

Then i actually got all the engine wiring harness installed. I still have to do the dashboard part, but i'm getting there.

Slowly but surely im getting there. I'll order the seat covers this week, and make the dreaded trip to the DMV to get the plates caught up to date.

Soon!

Thanks guys! Yeah, it's getting pretty close now. Still a bit more nightmare wiring to do. Brakes are all hooked up, but empty, i need to put fluid in and bleed all the lines. I ordered the seat covers last night, i should be getting them next week sometime.

I grew up driving Beetles. Had a squareback and a Scirocco too.

Love the buggy! I want it!

Thanks! Yeah, i have had a couple VWs over the years. They are both lovable and infuriating.

I just got back from there, hooked up the speedometer, and made some measurements to put the holes in the dash for the knobs, ignition and such. Probably do that tomorrow, i'll pick up a couple hole cut saw bits for the drill tonight that are the appropriate size.

Its getting there! I worked out a couple kinks with the steering today, and did more of the wiring.

That white exhaust looks so cool! So does the whole buggy actually!

Thank you! i just rattle canned the exhaust tubing with high temp white paint, it might only last a year or so before it starts rusting out, but by then i'll have saved up for a proper powder coated one or something like that.

So i worked about 5 hours on it today, nothing much to show though. Lots of nuts and bolts, routing wires, fiddling with the steering, that sort of thing. I did mock the roll bar in place, then took it back out and painted it. I'll install it tomorrow.

The seats are ready to put in too, but i figure why expose them to the elements. I'll put them in at the last.

Oh, and i told the guy whose property its on that it will be on the road a week from monday.

So, one more week folks!

That windshield is gonna need a little cleaning. :embarrassed:

Actually, that was morning dew. Its not that bad really. But yes, its going to need a good cleaning once its done. I dont want to put a car cover on it, because where it's sitting is usually pretty windy in the afternoons, and covers tend to scuff the paint on the corners. So its better to just leave it as it is, then clean it good when its ready to head back to my place.
