Manx Buggy build thread!

Very sweet Phil. Fits right in next to the beemer. And out cools it by at least 76.3%.

It's still yellow though....:embarrassed:

I missed this one...very cool!

Thanks guys! Its pretty much done. The brakes need to be bled a bit more, they are a bit mushy, and one of these days i just need to give it a complete tune up. But its fun to drive around. For some reason people can't help but wave.

It's such a happy car :)

Thanks, i'll remember that! It seems to be idling pretty well. Still has an exhaust leak that i can't chase down, i have tightened everything and still has it. I can only hear it when its under load, so its hard to diagnose. :embarrassed:

Sometimes you have to put a double gasket in at the exhaust port that is leaking as some of those header flanges weren't welded on square. I have had to do that many times. If it leaks bad you will get a back fire sometimes when you let off the gas at speed. If it isn't doing that, it isn't to severe. But I would guess it is at one of the flanges at the exhaust port....one of them anyway. :embarrassed:)

Yeah, i have some extra gaskets, i'll try that out. I can hear its coming from the passenger side, so i'll start there. No, no backfire, its not too horrible an exhaust leak. But enough for me to hear it.

Do they ever leak between the cylinder jug and the head? I dont know if thats a place to watch for or not. Hopefully not. :embarrassed:

Well folks, the buggy is finally home now. There is still lots of stuff to do (with VWs there is ALWAYS lots of stuff to do), but i think i can pretty much say this thread has gone full circle.

Whew. Lots of busted knuckles, literal blood, sweat, and sometimes even tears, but its done. Well, done-ish.

Its really nice to not have it sitting on someone else's property anymore, if i want to fiddle with it i just have to go out my door.

Phil -

[BLINK] VERY NICE FULL OF WIN AND AWESOMENESS!!![/BLINK]

Mine is sitting in the garage with a cover and a trickle charger on the battery.

Damn winter

Thanks brotha! I have a leak in the brake reservoir, im going to fiddle with that a bit this weekend. Actually, im kinda in the same boat as you. I got the thing done just in time for winter. This weekend its supposed to rain the whole time.

Oh well. We'll both be ready for summer.

Thats fantastic! Im gonna need to look for one of those around here!

Let me know if you find one or not. The stores around here have a bunch. I usually buy two of every HotWheel I get, but I had a handful of others and was getting the hairy eyeball from my wife.
Some were for my grandson.... Some .

Im not a hotwheel collector, although its kinda tempting to get started. I have friends with whole display cases full.

But, i did find that buggy in the grocery story today, and picked one up. :thu:

Cool!

Once you start, it quickly gets out hand.

"It's only a buck."

And when they go on sale......

My wife doesn't seem to mind because she gave me a dozen for Christmas.
