Kemper Gang?

I just read Mark Knopfler is using Kempler exclusively on his current tour. One main one, one backup.

Gah!... I can't decide which profiles I want!!!

Right now I'm using mostly Matchless and Vox sounds, but I think it's because I already have a handful of great Michael Britt profiles of those amps. If I got some good Fender and Marshall profiles from him, maybe I'd use those more too.

Aaaahhgggg... decisions decisions...!!!!

Michael Britt: you need the 65 Vox AC 30 pack, but also the 69 Marshall 50 watt - that's my go to for most things. That plexi like sound is just incredible - necessary for anything recorded before 1990.

Cool... I will check out the Britt Plexi profiles. I've been completely enamored with the Vox and Matchless tones! Experimenting with the treble booster in front of them has be amazing as well. I'm getting Andy Summers tones that I've never heard from one of my rigs before.

Okay Gang... I found one last night from the Vintage Sound Project Rig 2.5.... Marshal Purple Plexi.

I'm looking for an audio sample for that rig... but here's is some similarly tasty sounds from the rig's author, Carsten Litfin.

I'm looking for a sample of that plexi. :helper:

FYI, beta version of the famous editor was made available today.

Haven't tried it out myself yet, but a lot of the users in that Facebook group are having serial collective orgasms at the moment.

Interesting to see how long it will be until the moaners start complaining over some tiny little detail.

@Dexter Inferno Sweetness.... As long as I can move patches and chunks around, I'll be happy.

I've been wanting to take some of the sounds I use and move all the post-amp effects over one space closer to leave a spot for an external effects loop pre-reverb. This will be for me to insert my looper pedal(s) so the looped output can then go out the two signal paths. Currently I've been sending my kemper to one mixer channel and my looper to another (so I only hear the loop in my monitor, not in the cabinet behind me.)

Edit: Now that I read that back... I may want to keep it as is. It's nice to hear my unlooped guitar over my shoulder and the looped mix coming out of the monitor so I'm looping in 3 dimensional space... not everything coming out of one speaker. Looks like I'll have to do some trials.

My kemper is at the rehearsal place so I won't be able to use it for at least a week. Does the beta editor solve any of the performance editing bugs? Or is building performances still broken?

No idea, to be honest. I haven't had any issues with performance building, but I'm still at 6.0 so that may have something to do with it.
I'll probably be waiting a while until I take the plunge on the editor (as well as updating RM and OS), in case there are any new bugs.
I really don't like updating stuff before a project or gig.

What bugs have you had? I've not had any... but I don't run the beta... I'm on the latest stable full release.

putting together performances through rig manager is notoriously buggy (or at least was). recent changes would just vanish. performances that were previously stored on the kemper would vanish. slots within performances would jump to different performances, etc. really weird shit that loads of users have complained about for years at this point.

it's possible to create performances entirely within the kemper unit itself, but it's a PITA compared to using rig manager (if it worked properly)

Aha. I never use rig manager for that, so makes sense I haven't had any issues.
As far as I can tell, most people seem to be really happy with the editor so far. The few issues I've seen is some having trouble updating the unit (I always use a USB stick for that).

Ah okay... I always just turn to the amp that I want, tweak the EQ, throw a few effects in the slots, and then set them to on or off by default and done.

What I need Rig manager for is moving performances to different slots, renaming, and general organization.

Btw. I think I've found the dumbest place on the internet. The Kemper Users facebook group.
There will be 4-5 people each day asking "what's the best metal profile for the Kemper". Just tonight I was the only person asking what exact tone
that bloke was going for, with 20 others just posting their favourite profiles without any question.
Big difference between early 80's Maiden/Priest tone to the modern scooped 5150 stuff - as you all will know in here.
As I said in the post, that's like asking "what's the best guitar?".

Metal players are so fucking dumb it's incredible.

There are a few people that occasionally post useful stuff in there, but mostly it's fucking stupid metal guys who just have to complain about something. :embarrassed:

Edit: Hah, just noticed that thread was deleted.
But I do wonder why some people just insist on hunting for new profiles when they can just turn a few knobs on the profiles they already have (the Victory profiles is a great example, they're deemed horrible by most, but if you turn a few eq knobs they actually sound great)
