Kemper Gang?

@Dexter Inferno Thank you, not very many videos concentrate on that aspect of the pitch transpose built into the Kemper. I can already see how nice it would be to have the bass sound and a rhythm guitar sound on opposite ends of a morph and be able to seamlessly glide between the sounds with the expression pedal. Might be a total game changer on my Live Looping!

It could eliminate the need for your double neck

Yup, that should definitely be doable :)

Loads of stuff I haven't even tried on this thing yet, the flexibility of this unit is quite insane.

I haven't updated my Kemper yet, but it looks like the latest update patch includes Spring Reverbs and there's mention of more goodies coming soon.

The EHX Magnum 44 power amp I got used turned out to be a dud. It clips, or does something weird that seems to be clipping, at a fairly low input level and does the same thing if you turn the output knob on the box much past 12. It's getting returned and I've ordered a Quilter Microblock.

Issues aside, at low levels my unpowered Kemper sounded great running through the 44 Magnum into my 2x12 cab. Way better than the powered FRFR speaker I have. Might just sell that speaker since I haven't used it in months.

what was the powered FRFR speaker, and better in what way? As a sidelines-luster non-member of the kemper gang, I've seen people discussing "in-room amp/sound" feel; I guess vs more of a recorded sound(?) Is that a thing in the guitar cab vs FRFR speaker in your experience?

Also, every time I see this thread that fucking gucci gang song pops into my head, so thanks for that.

I think it is an ElectroVoice ZLX or something like that. Better in that with the cab sim turned off, the tone has a little more warmth coming out of the guitar cab. It's a little less bright but in a good way. Were I to do a blind taste test, it's certainly possible i wouldn't be able to tell one from the other of course.

Maybe it's just me, but I really don't get the FRFR thing. To me it's snake oil at often ridiculous prices.
Run it into the fx loop of any half decent combo. Or any powered monitor wedge (most of them have an eq section you can tweak). Both of those are about half the price of the "good" FRFR cabinets.

To be fair, I'm nowhere near as picky as a lot of other guitar players though. On a gig I need just enough to hear myself and play well (if I don't use in-ears).
I'm more of the practical kind. In my early days of gigging even having stage monitors was a luxury.

I'm that way when recording and mixing as well. Does it sound good? Good. Stop fucking around then.
A lot of players would do well to stop chasing that holy grail of tone bullshit. It doesn't exist. Nothing's ever perfect. Imo, of course.

I'm not likely to be in the Kemper club any time soon unfortunately but I couldn't agree more about chasing the perfect tone. Every venue is different and stuff will always sound different. I always just tried to get something in the ballpark of what I like and take it from there.

Quilter Micro Block is working well. I use the monitor output in mono (which can be set to Cab Sims off as a default) to the Quilter then out to a 2x12. Sounds and feels very nice. There’s a little top end feedback squawk that i’d like to get rid of.

Excited about bringing this rig to practice to test it out at loud as fuck volume.

Finally got around to setting the Kemper up as a hardware insert via S/PDIF for reamping guitars for mixing. Amazing.

Never using another amp modelling plugin again, that's for sure.

I've been saving towards a Kemper Power Head and floorboard.... but don't be surprised if I cheap out and get the unpowered profiler so I can get it sooner... and then buy the rest piece-meal. (I can always use my Mesa as the "powered cabinet" on stage in combination with direct to FOH.)

I’ve heard mixed reviews about the kemper power amp. You’d prob be better off using the power amp of your choice. Rack footprint is more amenable to that too
