Give me something to watch on Netflix

My wife and I just started Season 2 of the show Cheer.

While a show about college cheerleading might not be intriguing to some, since I was a gymnast in highschool and college, and then coached my daughters on tumbling until they joined school and co-ed travel cheer teams.... I've seen the stress of the athleticism vs sports coordinators who don't think cheer is a "sport", or those who do comprehend what it is, won't invest in the safety equipment (and insurance) to keep the athletes healthy.

Also watching the sport change my shy baby girl into a confident leader who is using that belief in herself to excel in business... as well as how she inspired her cousin (my niece) to also take up competition cheer, and helped propel her team from an also-ran to the state championships in recent years, it really hits home for me.

Then you throw the unrealistic celebrity and endorsement world on top of these poor junior college kids, and it's almost like the series helped create a pressure cooker to see which kid would crumble first. :embarrassed:

Is that something you can pickup w/ this season or do you need to start from the beginning?

You could probably start the second season, get the gist and really enjoy it, so far there hasn't been anything major that relates back to the big plot of the previous season. You'll work out quickly that they are megachurch televangelists and the family dynamic is quickly obvious.

The first season was terrific though, and is totally worth watching. All the actors are killing it.

Is that the one with Walton Goggins?

Sorry if someone's already mentioned this, but "I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore" was a surprisingly enjoyable watch.

I'm watching Station Eleven now. Viewing episode 3 will determine if I'll stick with it.

posted this in the station eleven thread but wanted to warn (or titillate) folks here:

4 episodes in and I can’t stand it but want to see where it goes.

it’s like Wes Anderson tried to make an even shittier version of what he usually makes. The only thing that makes it worse than Wes Anderson is that it’s longer than his movies.

it’s so disjointed and quirky and naive, blech.

the two actresses that play the lead character are excellent despite it all, as are several other cast members. David Cross and Lori Petty were pleasant surprises.

Let us know if you hang in there and it redeems itself. I made it through two episodes and bailed.

EDIT: I'm a big old Dummy McDummypants. I was confusing Archive 81 with Station Eleven. Archive 81 isn't great.
