Give me something to watch on Netflix

Absolutely loving it.

Suspected you might.

Yeah, I’m loving it too. I usually cringe at flashbacks being woven into the narrative structure in television. (I think of Arrow being the ultimate example where it just becomes messy dead weight)

But it’s done exceptionally well here. Very smart writing.

Agreed (about Arrow too).

Halfway through Don’t Look Up. It’s pretty excellent. Doomsday drama in the era of social media, rampant conspiracy theory BS etc.

edit - loved this movie, Jennifer Lawrence is fantastic, see it now.
Just read about this one twice on FB. will put it on the list. and I had just posted in the Politics thread about Jennifer Lawrence and some of her other work. More reason for me to be a fan.

Wheel of Time has been good. You can tell they are trying to cram a lot of stuff into a small space but I think they have done a good job with it so far. There are probably a lot of people unfamiliar with the books that have a lot of questions though.
I'm interested to see how far they go. I am through book 11 right now. It has taken me 3 years to get here. The story hits a big stall around book 8 or 9 so I put it away for a while.
@Kerouac gives a hilarious description of how that one reads. It's pretty slow.

We finished the last episode last night. I read the first three books probably 20 years ago, so I remember very little. I have enjoyed it and they are very well made, but at times I was a bit lost story wise. It got better towards the last few episodes. I got the first 3 books for Christmas so I will reread them shortly.

Started watching Heels last night. It's a drama about a small wrestling operation in the South.

I've not watched the wrestling since The Rock and Stone Cold were in it but it's a good watch so far.

Eventually got round to watching No Time To Die last night. It was OK but really could have been any action movie, it didn't really have that Bond magic imo.

Rami Malek and Christopher Waltz were really underutilized.

I did like the chick agent, I could totally see her or a female with that attitude taking over as Bond moving forward.

We started watching Vigil on Peacock this weekend. Saw the first two episodes. Really good. It has Rose Leslie in it (from GOT - "You know nothing John Snow..").

Stay Close on Netflix is an incomprehensible mess. I've never read a Harlan Coben novel but this has all the tension and drama of a made for TV after school special.

Patriot on Amazon Prime.

It's not for everyone. This is about as black as it gets and it's absolutely hilarious.

I devoured the first season when it debuted five years ago and then completely forgot about it until I discovered an additional season last night. So much time had passed that I decided to re-watch the pilot last night and I was howling. I'm going to burn through the first season again and then play catch-up.

Patriot was great. The creator made another show last year called Perpetual Grace LTD and it was phenomenal, with a terrific cast: Sir Ben Kingsley, Timothy Spall, Jimmi Simpson, Luis Guzzman, Terry O'Quinn, Kurtwood Smith etc. Phenomenal talent.
