Give me something to watch on Netflix

Stay Close on Netflix is an incomprehensible mess. I've never read a Harlan Coben novel but this has all the tension and drama of a made for TV after school special.
We managed to make it all the way through, but Jesus!
The whole premise is ridiculous from the get go--"I'm going to go into hiding and change my identity, but I'll just go ahead and stay in the same town as the seedy nightclub I used to work in. I'll just change my hair color; that'll do it."

Started watching Heels last night. It's a drama about a small wrestling operation in the South.

I've not watched the wrestling since The Rock and Stone Cold were in it but it's a good watch so far.

Eventually got round to watching No Time To Die last night. It was OK but really could have been any action movie, it didn't really have that Bond magic imo.

Rami Malek and Christopher Waltz were really underutilized.

I did like the chick agent, I could totally see her or a female with that attitude taking over as Bond moving forward.

I want to watch that. I haven't watched wrestling in ages, but have been watching a bunch of documentaries about it recently. I love listening to them tell the stories now that they don't pretend its real. It's pretty cool how they improvise the matches as they are going and the only real scripted part is who is going to win.

Pretty much same as me. The process and business side of thing fascinates me. The docs out there are great too so we're probably in the same boat, I think you'd enjoy it.

Patriot on Amazon Prime.

It's not for everyone. This is about as black as it gets and it's absolutely hilarious.

I devoured the first season when it debuted five years ago and then completely forgot about it until I discovered an additional season last night. So much time had passed that I decided to re-watch the pilot last night and I was howling. I'm going to burn through the first season again and then play catch-up.

Dont know how I missed this till now. Watched a couple episodes last night. It’s great.

The Harder They Fall is garbage, sorta. An otherwise talented cast doing I think an otherwise good job on a western, with modern dialogue and rap music over dumb scenes like a rain of shells hitting the ground during a shootout with revolvers. I may finish it just to see if it gets worse. Someone may love it, probably none of us though.

One of my best high school friends became a professional wrestler.
Started w/ body building and 'roids then went to a wrestling school. He cut his teeth the old school way by doing the high school gym circuit all over the east coast. Often not getting paid at all for gigs or maybe making enough to offset the cost of gas. As he made friends in the circuit, they'd get several guys that would travel together to split costs and get a motel room to share for events. Total grind. Gradually though he was getting into better matches and circuits. He'd wind up meeting some of the older famous wrestlers going in the opposite directions career-wise.
Eventually he got into the hardcore wrestling thing as those federations were taking off and getting cable tv contracts. A good number of years into the game he got into dark matches in WWF (during commercial breaks). He fucked up a move w/ a guy that McMahon was grooming and basically got blacklisted from the 'bigs'. He continued doing the hardcore stuff till it just took too much toll on him physically and developed a pretty awful pill habit.

He has some super crazy stories about guys who you've seen on TV growing up. I've met a few other low to mid tier guys over the years and you really come away realizing how 99% of the guys in the show are meat for the grinder.

One of my old guitar players got into it too. When our band broke up and we all left Blacksburg, he stayed around. Jimmy 'the Boogie Woogie Man' Valliant had/has a wrestling school just outside of Christiansburg Va and he went there to train. He did the high school gym circuit but never made it anywhere. I'm not sure why he got into it though, he was smaller than me. He sent me a pic a while back of him at a match with a kid in the stands holding a sign up saying "Go Home Gary Coleman!" at him.

So many pro wrestlers end up with drug addiction. It sucks because if they get hurt, unless you are already a huge star, you either recover and your career is done, or you pop pills and get back out there.

The way I heard things went was drugs, scripts and illegal, were rampant. The vets would travel w/ a stash and offer whatever over to the new guys as they'd get injured. Course if you're all doped up on opiates to kill the pain, you're now probably going to need something to get to going for the show.

We started Don’t Look Up and loving it so far. My wife fell asleep (she was exhausted) but we’re looking forward to picking it back up.

I’ve been watching all the Marvel movies on Disney Plus, only while working out. Solid meh with a few gems like the first GotG. The only thing keeping me going on these movies are the Stan Lee cameos and the little scenes during or at the end of the credits.

Yeah, the Deadpool movies sort of made all the others look stale except GotG.

Honorable mention to Rebecca Romain and JLaw walking around basically nekkid.

We've been loving all the British crime dramas. Currently watching DCI Banks on HULU.
