2023 concert thread

Just got back from attending two days of the Telluride Bluegrass festival. Per usual, it did not suck.

Here's who we saw:

Sierra Ferrell
The Earls of Leicester with Jerry Douglas
Yonder Mountain String Band
Mary Chapin Carpenter
Punch Brothers
Emmylou Harris & Watchhouse
Telluride House Band (Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Bryan Sutton, Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer & Stuart Duncan)
Gregory Alan Isakov
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss

How was Sierra Ferrell?

Fantastic. She's the real deal and I regret not getting tickets to see her in Santa Fe a month or two ago.

We only caught the tail end of her set in Telluride, but the way the festival usually goes is that everyone ends up jamming with everyone else or making a guest appearance in some capacity. So later that afternoon she ended up doing a spot with Jerry Douglas and then later with Sam Bush and the rest of the house band.

That was tremendous! The live mix is terrific, really clear. I'd love to see her live.

Credit where it's due, the mixes at that festival are some of the best I've ever heard. They know that space and that amphitheater and they've got it dialed in perfectly. No one ever sounds bad there and we've been going for years.

I went to see the Deftones a few years ago, in August and the AC broke right before the show. The show was awesome, but very uncomfortable
I saw Rob Zombie MANY years ago and the AC was working but you wouldn't have known it. We were drenched. I'm pretty sure every beer I drank got sweated out before the alcohol hit my system.

Badass show, catch them if you can. Celebrating 10Y since Southeastern was released by playing of the album for the current tour along with Weathervanes.
I'm desperately hoping he tours Europe again for this album, but the small crowd I saw him with makes me think he won't. If he does I'll even drive to Berlin or Amsterdam if need be.

Love Sierra, she's got IT.

Does anyone need/want tickets to see Nickel Creek @Wolf Trap on July 23?
I unthinkingly scheduled our family vacation during this show and won't be able to make it. Just looking for face. Inner aisle seats, row P in prime orchestra section...very nice seats. Can change the name for Will Call pickup.

Cheers all.

Saw Paramore with openers The Linda Lindas and Foals last night. Had heard of the openers by name but nothing besides that. The Linda Lindas are aged 12-18 and were great. Punkish with lyrics you'd expect from kids that age, but awesome energy and seemed really stoked to be there. This was the second leg of the tour and the first with these openers so I'm wondering if they had played in front of many bigger crowds. Foals were a UK band that seemed tight and groovy. I wouldn't be opposed to listening to more of either openers stuff.

I knew Paramore had a reputation for being great live, but wow. Their energy, especially Hayley is just insane. They had enough production pieces to make it interesting but nothing super over the top, just musically great. I've been looking forward to seeing them since I became a fan in 2020 and the wait was worth it.

I missed the shows near me. I would love to see Tori live.
I've got The Smashing Pumpkins in Huntsville, AL on the 17th of August to look forward to though. That's only a 10 hour drive.
Yeesh. That's serious commitment. Denver (6 hours) is my limit these days and even that's super rare.

Did they play 'Shake Some Action'?

I've got a stupid money figure in my head to take me, my brother and my dad to see Oasis if they reform. I've put decent thought into it and I'm happy with being shafted up and until that point to see one of my favourite bands...

Mrs JBJ informed me we're on the waiting list for Taylor Swift tickets.

£250 or thereabouts each. Pass. :ack:
