2023 concert thread

I just got tickets for The Cure. If I’d have known how low the prices would be I would have logged in earlier to be at the front of the line. I expected the best seats to be hundreds of dollars—they were $130. Literally $130 to be in the pit twenty feat from Robert Smith. But I still got tickets in the amphitheater, I won’t be stuck on the lawn if it rains, so I’m happy.

Saw them in December. Great show though they'd been doing lots of greatest hits type sets either side of us and we got the new album / deep cuts set.

I'm going to see James with an orchestra in May. One of my absolute favourite bands of all time so looking forward to seeing them do something a bit different.

Pulp are headlining a festival in town in July I'm debating getting tickets for. I'd love to see them but it's like a zombie apocalypse of shit faced teenagers (not that I didn't do the same in similar festivals when I was but a lad) that I'm not sure I can be bothered dealing with.

Just got a pair for Peter Gabriel @Cap1 in DC. Will nab a pair for Nickel Creek @Wolf Trap next week.

Wolf Trap also added:
- Lauren Hill, Miss Ed 25th anni tour
- Dispatch w/ NSO
- Regina Spektor w/ Aimee Mann
- Gov't Mule & Jason Bonham
- James Taylor
- Squeeze w/ Psyc Furs
- Ray LaMontagne

I could easily see 25 shows at Wolf Trap this summer and be happy.

Trying to figure out if we can/should try to add Hozier at the Anthem on Friday too.

Going to see Scorpions mid May in Mannheim. Now Mammoth WVH is going to play a club in Frankfurt on 30 May. Tickets are only 26 bucks. I'll be stupid if I don't go even if Mrs Knox doesn't want to really.

I need a popular venue closer to me. Driving over an hour each way to either Orlando or St. Augustine to see a show on a Tuesday night is a pain in the ass when I have to work the next day.
I miss the days when concerts were only on Friday and Saturday nights mostly. At least the ones I was seeing.

I bought 2 tickets to Mammoth WVH. For 26€ I would kick myself for the rest of my life for not going. No one knows them here. If they come back at all or take off with this new album either they will just be part of an expensive festival, more expensive headlining or opening for an expensive show like Metallica.

I'm looking forward to it.

Missed the sale for the 2nd Hozier date and can't swing the platinums and up for Queen in MD.

The Queen is a double bummer, because I wouldn't count on them ever going out again. I also forgot the sale was at 10, thought it was noon...sigh...

Got my Nickel Creek tix though.

Long time friend and fellow Smashing Pumpkins fan scored some good seats to the show in Huntsville in August at their new amphitheater. Supposed to be a cool venue but it's not covered and it is hot as balls in Huntsville in August.
At least I'll get to see my buddy. We haven't seen a pumpkins show together since the late 90's.

Saw Muse/Evanescence earlier this month.
Two days later, scored same-day Springsteen floor tickets relatively cheap - then 15 minutes later the show was postponed, so now it’s in September.

Got May 3rd tickets to Plant/Krauss.

Would like to catch TTB again. We missed them on their Columbus stop this month, as I was out of town, but they should be swinging back nearby later in the summer. Would also like to check out a Gov’t Mule show, although it appears the closest they’re getting to here is the annual Outlaw festival, and I don’t wish to see an abbreviated set just to get to a 90-year old Willie (who was, uh, not great the last time we saw him).

Wife pushing to see Santana either on tour, or at one of his Vegas residencies.

Gordon Lightfoot has officially canceled his entire tour and issued refunds. Poop sticks.

Damn that sucks, I’ve seen Gordon many times throughout the years. My mother was always a big fan since I was a little kid, I’ve seen him in the 1970’s up through the 2000’s. Hope he’s doing ok, he’s certainly had some serious health struggles.

My weekend double header — I'm catching him in Santa Fe on Saturday night too.
