2023 concert thread

Just picked up tickets to see Vieux Farka Touré two nights back to back in Santa Fe and Albuquerque.

Wolf Trap just dropped the 1st iteration of their summer schedule, including:
- the Avett Bros
- Tedeschi Trucks Band
- Jason Isbell
- Shatki
- Taj Mahal/Los Lobos
- Robert Plant & Allison Krauss
- Lyle Lovett
- Sting
And more, as well as, more to come. This equals happiness, great lineup at my favorite venue.

Finally Isbell is headlining. Every time he comes through town, he’s been an opener and I had no interest in the headliner. Plus Wolftrap is right down the street. The closest venue to my house.

The city (using the term loosely — population 6,595) of Taos hosts some straight-up killer concerts every year in this sweet little park in the middle of town. Five minutes ago they just announced that Robert and Alison will be one of the shows this summer. So there's no way I'll be missing that one.

Every one of those shows feels like a don't-miss, especially Taj. Ain't none of those guys getting any younger.

Death Cab for Cutie on Thursday. Setlist looks epic.
Found out The Smile is playing St. Augustine June 30th. Tickets on sale Friday at 10am. Fingers crossed I don't have to go resale on those. Would LOVE to see them again.

Not to be a dick about Isbell, but I was wondering: I saw today on news comments about Tom Verlaine's death, Isbell says he goes onto stage most nights with 'Marquee Moon' playing. Isbell fans: have you experienced that? Does he enter the stage to Television?

I’ve never seen him live, but he’s mentioned Marquee Moon a ton in the past as being an important record to him so it wouldn’t surprise me.

I've seen him twice but both occasions were years ago and I don't remember that playing. Though as Chad said, it wouldn't surprise me.

That's cool. I didn't want to doubt it. I 've got a former colleague, a dude from New Mexico, now living in Arkansas, and he's the biggest Isbell fan I could imagine. He's seen him a bunch of times, and he also mentioned to me in a message today that he'd heard Verlaine had died, but he didn't know much about him. I was wondering if 'you know when you saw Isbell, his walk on music was Television' was actually right?

He was actually co-headlining the last few years at WT, but I wasn’t interested in anyone other than Croz. I don’t want to see a truncated set so a band that I’m not passionate about also plays a truncated set.

Yeah, he’s never been a sole headliner here. And I agree, I’m not paying to see the non headliner. I want a full set.

We took our Son and nephew to the Supercross race on Saturday. Buckethead played the national anthem. It was a little scary.

From the video. He's team Honda. He has his KFC bucket hiding under the outer one.

The Mars Volta are playing 4 miles from my house. I wish I liked them better than I do.

Comedy, not music - I'm going to see Kathleen Madigan and Dusty Slay at the Ryman in February.

If you don't know who Madigan is, check out her "Bothering Jesus" special on Netflix.

Picked up tix for Le Tigre in July. My wife has largely abandoned concert going, but she was actually excited for this. Not super pumped about this lame-o Salt Shed venue, but we shall see.
