OMG Politics, I'm over it already.

We're in a state of relying on the next generation to supply qualified employees for tomorrow's jobs & abandoning today's worker. The rate of industry transition is only getting higher as technology & globalization continues to change the world. We have little to no answer for people in regions once dominated by industry, mining & manufacturing about their immediate or long term future and zero plan for today's walking-dead workforce. Ideologically what this administration is doing is delay the inevitable & roll back the clock on those jobs rather than develop a more agile workforce and economy. Huge risk considering the rest of the world is moving in a different direction.

in a way, as terrible as it sounds, i'm kinda looking forward to the giant crash of america. this country has been run as a "profit above all else" nation for far too long. people are disposable to these oligarchs. europe figured that shit out 50 years ago. we ARE the weakest link of freedom. maybe when all the greedy profiteers are hanging from light poles, we can get back to "of the people"

i know, it's a horrible thing i say. but it NEEDS to happen. has for a hundred years.

The term is much-overused and it's a gross generalization ... but those it fits, it fits to a T. (seems disingenuous and contradictory here.)

It's a vocal minority of supposedly-progressive, entitled, self-important Bernie supporters -- generally young white guys -- who made frequent sexist-oriented attacks against Clinton, her supporters and journalists that they felt didn't support their chosen candidate enough. They used these tactics incessantly, trolling forums, comment sections and social media throughout the internet.

It's the same type of tactics and attacks and attitudes found in GamerGaters ... and I suspect there is significant overlap in the actual people as well.

In the real world, they often didn't have their ducks in a row when it came to the primaries: either not understanding the rules, or neglecting to register in time to cast their votes in the primaries. And when exceptions weren't made for their lack of preparedness, when they weren't allowed to cast their vote because they hadn't done what they should have, they resorted to shout-whining about the "establishment conspiracy to suppress their voices" ... when the blame lay solely with themselves.

These guys, frustrated that their candidate was defeated, falsely claimed that information revealed by the DNC hacks showed pervasive DNC collusion with the media and the Clinton campaign to defeat Bernie and to silence them. They would claim that the evidence was there and was clear as day, but when pressed to provide links to it in the DNC emails, they couldn't. Because they had been convinced of its existence by their fellow Bernie supporters, but when they went looking, they found out it was an old Bros' tale. And that further confused and angered them.

Once Clinton won the nomination, a sizeable chunk of these Bros went on to support Trump in a fit of thwarted pique because so much of their political identity had been wrapped up in "Not-Hillary!!!" that they would throw their weight behind the Devil himself to defeat her.

A friend of mine was sort of caught up in the Bro phenomenon due to his heavy involvement on Facebook and many, many friends in the Houston club scene. He sent me tons of links purporting to expose the perfidious DNC/Clinton/Media cabal that was suppressing Bernie and his supporters. I would research them, send him back actual, verifiable facts refuting the wild-ass Bro claims, and he would end up confused.

After the election, he sheepishly saw the error of his ways and feels kind of foolish about it now.

Still, we need those Bernie Bros to come to the light. Help them find a way to grow beyond ideological inflexibility and muster the courage to find common ground within the diversity of the mainstream and embrace compromise for a greater good. Somewhat like raising a precocious teenager...

The Trump trainwreck should be quite helpful to that end and the 2018 midterms can't come soon enough!

Look, I know there are some that fit that description, but the gross over generalization admitted by @GDSmithTX is unhelpful and will not heal wounds within the more liberal factions of our voters.

1). In my county, and in my state, not only did the Bernie supporters (more accurate and inclusive than "Bernie Bros") caucus better, advocate better, show more energy and a clearer message, but also kicked ass and won the county and state in a landslide. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idaho_Democratic_caucuses,_2016

2) there were some irregularities including Wasserman Schultz's emails. Did it cause Bernie to lose? No. Still a problem to be addressed. But I am not seeing the Dems even look at those issues again yet. I hope so. Maybe I am wrong. I am not saying there was massive collusion with the media, or that Bernie won, but I am saying there are problems in the DNC primary process. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Democratic_National_Committee_email_leak
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/riley-waggaman/its-not-just-arizona-elec_b_9550670.html

3) But that really misses the point. I campaigned hard for Clinton. Worked my ass off, with annoying near college students who were so priggish in there attitudes that it made it hard to do. Despite that, Clinton and her campaign screwed it up. Not Bernie supporters, nor even Bernie Bros. She failed to travel to and campaign in key swing states. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/11/trumps-road-to-victory/507203/ This continues to show the arrogance that a lot of folks don't care for about her. It is not about her competence. Nor is it about her gender. Again, voting record. It takes 5 minutes to compare their voting records (and what were there current messages at the time). Really, a lot of people much preferred Bernie's positions. Further, more people than you think are ready for a democratic candidate that is closer to Bernie, and closer to old school Dems than this newer breed. The Dems seem to still be ignoring this.

4.) to the extent that some bernie supporters voted for others is a bummer. I agree. But it did not cause her loss. That came to the rust belt losses noted above. See again, https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/11/trumps-road-to-victory/507203/
She carried the popular vote with a really good margin. the "Bernie Bros" that voted otherwise did not cause that. Nor did they cause the electoral loss of the election. She and her campaign need to take responsibility for that. And I am a bit pissed about it. As I said, I worked my ass off and put on my happy Dem face, while under my breath uttering concerns about these issues, and the way she connected or failed to connect with the press, or fail to deal with bad publicity more straight on and with more candor. That would have made a big difference I think. (Oh, and also not saying things like "deplorables" even if it is true. Best not to state that opinion out loud.) The stakes were high and she failed to do some basic things. She and her husband have the money. How hard is it to reach out a bit more personally by traveling and connecting a little more?? More importantly, her people should have more clearly recognized the risk, and found a better way for her to message to this demographic. They did not.

5) So, whether some bernie supporters are annoying or not, it misses the point. And, continuing to throw that label around does not help the DNC move forward. How about some candor about the primary process, and thought about how to improve it and/or trust in that process? How about some thoughts about the platform and who has the character and personality to carry the message? How about a clear message? Let's get to those things.

6) reasonable minds can differ on most or all of this. But ad hominem name calling is not going to help us move forward. So stop it please.

He does that, then sends Conway out to say some crazy ass shit, then the press focus on microwave cameras and forgets all about his big "news." I want to see someone ask him why ISIS hasn't been defeated yet. He is well past the 30 day mark.

30 days was for the plan to defeat ISIS. That said, we should have known by now that the plan has been presented. He won't tell anyone what's in the plan, only that it's a very good plan, and we're going with it. Because he doesn't want to tell our enemies how we're going to defeat them.

IDK, the idea of people losing their jobs, homes, families and the lives they've worked to build doesn't really excite me all that much.

Absolutely not. That is buying into Bannon's "hey, let's start a civil war" bullshit. Distracting us from figuring out real solutions. Tempting feelings, when frustrated and angry, but not in the long run productive. IMO.

It takes time to plant that evidence.

it's a terrible prospect (1860 - 1865), but until one of the two sides is basically eliminated, we are going to be right where we are forever.

i guess i just need to find a different country to live out my days in. and not in canadan (USA Lite).

This, sorta. Time to find real solutions of how to bring the people together. Then we can all make those oligarchs swing from light poles in a sign of unity.
