trump said his source of the the false wiretap claims was fox news. says he may or may not provide any further proof. my lord.
he said he read an article in the "failing new york times" that was talking about """"wire taps"""", and from what i read, he took that article to mean it was about him. and i don't think the article said anything about him or his campaign.

I also voted against my personal interest. When I cast my vote for Sanders in the VA primary, I did so knowing full well I was voting to substantially increase my tax burden. Look forward to doing it again for the right candidate.

Ashlee and I had a discussion about this the other night, because our families both come from predominantly conservative areas and we have quite a few family members that vote Republican because they're vets that love guns, Jesus, and coal, plus they hate people that are any colour other than white or spray-tanned. But Ashlee nd I vote against our own interests too... with our combined incomes we'd be doing better under Trump's tax plans; her entire industry stands to do better under Trump, but only if you're willing to make unethical moves and put yourself before your clients. We vote against our own best interests out of inclusion, out of wanting everyone to be better off, and if we have to pay more for that, that's okay. The Republicans voting against their own interests do so because they're scared and selfish, seeing only their individual bubble and how things affect them directly. Unfortunately, that's a hard thing to overcome.

I guess that depends on how you look at your interests. My interest is living in a country where people don't have to choose between filing for bankruptcy or getting medical help when they are sick. Will that increase my tax burden? Maybe, but I don't care, I'm not here on this planet to make more money than everyone else. I am probably in a little different situation than the 2 of you with all of mine and my families' health issues, but I would like to think that even if I was the healthiest man alive, I would still feel this way.

The funny thing is, if we went to a single payer system, technically, it will increase our taxes, but it may be a wash if you no longer have to buy insurance through your employer and it is provided for you for free. I'm not sure what you guys pay for insurance, but our insurance is about what our house payment was when we lived in Florida.

End the war on drugs and prison-industrial complex, corporate and wealthy tax loopholes, all our over seas shenanigans, and cut the military budget in half (or more).

Plenty of money then for every other god damn thing under the sun.

I'd like to add, get rid of tax exempt statuses for churches. Not all churches, set some kind of income limit, but my god it is insane how much untaxed money pours through some of those places. We've got churches in this area that look nicer than exclusive country clubs.

Definitely. We can file that under the corporate/wealthy loophole section :thu:

While I agree with that, this one may be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Trump is "their guy." The Bushes weren't, Reagan wasn't, they were establishment party men. Trump is the "outsider" who is going to clean up this Washington bullshit. Once they see their healthcare gone, and when he rips out NAFTA and taxes Mexican imports, Mexico retaliates buy stopping their import of corn and the farming industry dies, maybe the poor and middle class republicans will actually get it. Once Trump fails miserably, maybe they will finally see. I'm sure he will try to pin his failures on the democrats, but his party is in control of everything.

Nope. Those types of voters see their favorite politicians as something apart from the government. When they get screwed over, it isn't any particular politician, or even party, it is "the government" that caused the problem. Their favorite politician is the God fearing, 2nd amendment following, abortion-is-murder friend of the working-class that is trying to fix "the government". They never actually look at what these people do while in Washington.

you left out "for profit health care industry".

but when you add all of that up it equals "stop being rich". so ain't gonna happen.

I don't know. Health care may be the silver bullet. Trump and others in the GOP have vowed to repeal Obamacare and replace it with something better. With the GOP hold both house of congress and the white house, they have no excuse. So much of what goes on in Washington is a mystery to folks, they don't see it or feel it. They don't see how NAFTA effects their everyday lives or how NATO works they only hear what their politicians tell them. But everyone gets sick. We've had 6 years of, while not a perfect system, a system where folks had coverage. When they fail miserably at replacing it with anything at all or replace it with something worse, people will go to the doctor. And they will see what that cost them out of pocket. That is tangible to everyone. It may not make them vote for a democrat, but it may make those incumbents lose their primaries.

I have no idea what you are speaking of. :embarrassed:

Joel Osteen bought our sports arena called "The Summit" for a cool $96 million and turned it into his "church".
I remember seeing several great concerts there.

we've got some of those kinds of things here too. churches bought up empty large grocery store, multiplex movie theater, etc.
they all have a dozen sat dishes on the roofs. not the kind of dishes you watch netflix on. the 8 foot diameter kind. they're beaming their word.....err....indoctrination..... everywhere.

My health care is also roughly equal to my mortgage, but that is just for the coverage and inclusion in a plan. My actual healthcare costs are more, since my plan has a 6K deductible, and so far this year I am 2K+ out of pocket beyond the $1700/mo for coverage. When my new employer takes over and I pass my 90 day period my plan costs will be cut by 75% so I have that to look forward to, and it can't happen soon enough.

I was just talking about the insurance cost itself. We have a $2k family deductible we hit every year, plus co-pays and prescriptions.

You forget that Kentuckians, half of whom have insurance through Kynect , voted in a governor who's #1 campaign promise was to eliminate Kynect.

They simply have no desire to connect the dots between the evil "government" and their favorite politicians. All they want to know is who supports God, guns, and ending abortion. They really aren't going to look past those three issues, no matter how big of a clue stick smacks them in the head.
