OMG Politics, I'm over it already.

Nobody is seceding. Everyone is mixed politically. It's a pipe dream, and a bad one at that.

The country is like a bad marriage that is staying together for the children. As soon as everyone sees that, we can go our separate ways and everyone will be happier.

On that I agree. But it's going to be a very bad divorce.

I don't see why it has to be. Both sides want exact opposite countries, why not make both happy. Why would anyone hate that idea? I would be more than willing to pick up and move anywhere in the country where Donald Trump is not the president, Mitch McConnell is not the senate majority leader or Paul Ryan doesn't get to step foot in the congress. I know there are a ton of people who would love to go where they never had to listen to Elizabeth Warren or Tim Kaine grill the most unqualified person to ever be nominated for the secretary of education or where everyone hates Barrack Obama. So why stay together for everyone to be miserable? Seems silly to me.

It has to be because people are uninformed, easily swayed, and violent. Why should I move when they're the assholes? 'Murika.

I feel safer already.

I totally agree that it seems silly and a thing like that should be approached sensibly and looking for win/win solutions. (Though, as I have said, that would be very complicated considering the support provided to more rural areas that is largely funded from urban areas.)

But, I am afraid I agree that there is a possibility it could get ugly, were it to occur. As with most divorces I have been involved with, it is not enough to sensibly negotiate the separation of two lives. Generally, both parties want to prove they were "right". There are exceptions, but I do not see how our country is acting shows that it would be one of the exceptions. But, maybe I am wrong.

I say fuck it. Don't even have a hearing, just let him have the position. Apparently most people don't give a shit so let Trump burn the fucker down. Hopefully I can sneak into Mexico before the wall is built.
To me, process is process. Whether or not it appears things are going very well.

Honestly, I'm ready to say fuck the rural areas. They keep voting for assholes like Trump and McConnell, they get what they voted for. Maybe when they live in a republican world they will see how fucked they really are.

The problem with that approach is they have the nukes, and are more than happy to use them.

The problem is, if you really get to the foundation of it, that everyone is entitled to their opinion and they get an equal vote. Stupid people also have opinions and even though most stupid people's opinions are formed with either closed minds or very limited information, their opinions are 'worth' the same as intelligent people's opinions.

Just take a moment to ponder that as it is one of the worst shortcomings of 'freedom'.

Now think about how stupid some of your neighbors are, or people you see in your daily travels or who you read about in the paper and you think "holy smokes, what an idiot". Well, there are stupid people doing stuff like that all day long every single day.

Stephen Hawking's vote is worth no more than that dude who tried siphoning gasoline from an RV and put the hose in the sewage tank...yeah, the guy who they caught by following the puke trail to his house.

And that is why we must invest significantly in education. People are free to be stupid. But they shouldn't be held down by a gutted system

I believe that Germany has benefitted greatly from 100% subsidized education but in North America the education system is a cash cow so it will be extremely difficult if not impossible to reform.
