Getting Tired of the endless twisting of the narrative here, my last words to that is to answer your last question.

Andrew Dice Clay.

Have a good one...

I'm sorry, I know I'm being flippant, but honestly, I'm not trying to win any kind of an argument here, I'm just trying to understand what you're saying.

1) Pre existant to drumph there was already a movement of people tired of pc attitudes having shifted from "don't be overly offensive, but still address problems" to participation medals and not hurting anyone's feelings in any way.

2) Trump exploited this, but he wasn't the catalyst.

3) I'm not defending him, only explaining how something came to be. which was now so far back I forget exactly what I was addressing. :)

OK, so he has never released his tax returns. he claimed he didnt need to put his companies and assets into blind trusts like is required of everyone else because his kids would be running them and they wouldn't be involved in the govt. that didn't make any sense but no one seemed to care.

Now his kids and their spouses are involved in the transition team, cabinet and chief of staff.

What the fuck is going on here? can they just do whatever? it doesn't seem like the normal rules apply to them.

Seriously...When is the protesting shit going to stop?
I'm sure that there's always some people that live on the edge of breaking out on to the street in hopes that other will follow because, well, that's their nature and they really have nothing better to do.

When do you shut your pie hole, pack things in, and be a normal person?..LOL...I was going to say a normal person 'again'..

It's important to let the world know that America is not a monolith in support of our President. I haven't been to a protest, but I'm glad that Europe, Mexico, and the rest can see that they aren't the only ones who are unhappy with what we've done.

Yes, it is at least good for that.

On the ninth I had some explaining to do on how it happened and explaining how many despise him etc...

They See now that I wasn't just some crazy rogue Hillary bot.

the vast majority of australia is near wilderness. my point was that the firearms laws that have been passed in that country were not beccause of some 'explosion' of cime...but more of a reaction to the crime that was happening everywhere else.

Sorry, but no. Australia decided that guns were more trouble than they were worth after the Port Arthur massacre in 1996.

There are no requirements that the President step away from their personal commercial interests. All of the Presidents in modern times have done so by convention, but here there is no legal requirement.

You don't say. Hmmm, why could he have possibly wanted to run? To make America great again, or fill his bank full of money. Well I guess if he fills his bank it makes America great for him again.

All jokes aside, I thought presidents had to put all of their holdings in a blind trust. I'm guessing after 4 years of Donald making Donald rich again, congress may want to make it law

I wonder how long the NRA is going to keep saying the left is coming for guns without it ever happening? I wonder how long the right will keep believing it?

The answer to those two questions is the same: "Until it stops working."

And it doesn't look like it will ever stop working.

My wife often jokes at my size. She said the reason I am 5'6" and 130 lbs is that if I was Wein size, I would end up beating the shit out of people I see doing this. I have almost gotten my ass kicked a couple of times when I was younger for defending a fast food worker from an asshole.
I might not be the height of The Wein, but at 5'9" and 280lbs, I'm not going to hesitate if I see somebody in trouble.

except that australia doesn't have anywhere near the criminal element in their country that the USA has. the gangs in this country alone warrant home defense firearms.
You do know that Australia was started as a penal colony, right? One big landmass prison.

That is a very good and interesting piece.

It is a conundrum. As this article points out, Trump was able to use fear and anxiety, and turn it into blame, being the spin doctor carney barker that he is. Fear is the mind killer, as sci fi, and actual science, teaches us. I agree with the column, but the problme remains of how do we solve it and communicate better with the voters that voted this way, AND the Yuge numbers of voters that stayed home. The thing I wish to continue to figure out is how to re-direct the people that have been convinced that they need to vote for such a moron, due to false promises about returning old economies, that the democrats do have a better plan and their better interests at heart. I heard somewhere (some NPR spot I only heard a part of) that 53% of women voted for Trump? I have to look that up. It seems unbelievable to me. EDIT: That number does not match up with what I read from BBC's look at exit polls. http://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2016-37922587

EDIT TO EDIT: Found it. it was 53% of white women who voted for Trump. W 42% of women overall.

For as long as it keeps the membership dollars and donations coming in. (increasing state legislative efforts means it's not stopping anytime soon).
This topic, like just about everything else these days, has turned into the extreme opposite points of view suffocating the center and roadblocking any progress towards a compromise.

FWIW, Aussieland didn't ban firearms, they divided different firearms into classifications & categories and imposed various substantial restrictions on who can own what & why they can own it. Most of the research on the impact of the 1996 NFA, including the governmental research, is contradictory without any clear concensus on the impact outside that it has reduced the number of firearms obtained by theft.

Ok, it is November 12. No snow of any kind on the ground. Not cold enough for the resort to make any like normal. Some meatface puke is appointing climate deniers to a cabinet post apparently. very hard not to get frightened by this. My kids get pretty depressed by it as well from what they read and learn in school. I guess our government isn't going to help matters, at least for now. So, here are a few ideas I hope to adopt as best I can. Guess I say goodbye to asian made guitars, at least bought new. I am asking all of you to consider joining me, and to consider asking friends and family to join the effort.

Trump has vowed to pull out of the Paris climate agreement, this much we know. We also know that he's vowed to get rid of the EPA. He'll most likely sell off to the highest bidder all public lands for deforestation and drilling, amongst other environmentally devastating things which will affect this planet for millennia to come. Climate change should be the number one concern of all of humanity right now, because without water, air, and food, none of the rest of it matters! I am in a panic about what is going to happen to this planet because of him, so I have been trying to think of ways for me to personally mitigate the damage that he will do. I have come up with a few that YOU can begin implementing, without TOO much discomfort or disruption. If you begin changing your mindset and lifestyle now, it may not have to come down to forced changes in the future. At the very least, you will already be mentally prepared when we DO hit that desperate point.
Go ahead an add your own so that we can brainstorm ways that people can help in their daily lives, since the new president doesn't care that this world will be a much different place in just a couple of generations! The science is there. It is proven, whether HE believes it or not.

1. Buy/consume less. Just stop buying all those nick knacks that you think you need. Your child doesn't need that plastic toy from the dollar store, she needs your time and love. You don't need another, new sweater this fall, you are fine with what you have. Learn to be content. This is the simplest way to be radical, but will be very difficult because we are brainwashed to believe that consuming is our patriotic duty. Saving this planet for the future generations is a far more important duty, though. If you DO need a new sweater, buy it second hand. ALL of my cutest clothes that I get complimented on are from Value Village. And this leads to the next one...

2. Reuse as much as possible. Buy things with the idea that you will find ways to reuse the item/packaging afterward. Be creative! I am an artist and I use any sort of small container or packaging as paint pots. I also collect plastic lids and tabs to use in arts and crafts in my preschool class. Make this a part of your purchasing decisions, it will become second nature eventually.

3. Buy local. Shipping goods from far away places, like China, which has no environmental regulations so that factories spew pollution directly into rivers ( coming to a river near you soon!) leaves a huge carbon footprint. This one will be difficult, since so many of our products are made in China, and local items are often more expensive, but if you are practicing #1, then the fewer items you DO need and buy, can be more expensive, local items.

4. If financially possible, drive a hybrid car. They are smaller than your SUV, which will require sacrifices, too, but again, this small inconvenience to me now has HUGE benefits for future generations, and we owe them that much.

5. Just DRIVE less. Plan your errands so that you take the shortest route. Decide to walk instead of drive. Take the bus and enjoy reading a book or looking out the window rather than battling traffic. Again, it's not as "convenient" as hopping in your car, but if there is no clean air to breath or clean water to drink, we won't be concerned with convenience anymore!

6. EAT LESS BEEF! Beef production is one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse emissions. If every person just HALVED their beef consumption this could make a HUGE difference. MANY years ago I learned about how big a carbon footprint eating beef left, and decided to stop eating it. I went many years not eating any. I now eat it a few times a YEAR only. Though I love the taste of it, it really has been a small sacrifice to make to help the environment. Instead of using beef in your pasta sauce, choose ground turkey. Used turkey burgers instead of beef. It's not QUITE the same, but I PROMISE you that you will eventually not really miss the beef. And then when you DO want that steak, you can eat it without guilt. Make this a lifestyle change.

7. Begin replacing all of the bulbs in your home with LED. I am doing this by buying one each payday ( they are expensive). This one is a no-brainer easy. Just DO IT!

8. Take the carbon footprint test below to see what yours is. Mine was 3.5/10. 10/10 is an average American's footprint. I am vowing to pay the $7.30/month required to mitigate my footprint. This is a small price to pay to ensure my children have a planet to grow old on!
