I bet Mike Pence is pissed off right now. He joined a joke presidential campaign to get exposure for his own 2020 campaign. Now he’s VP for a president who will most likely make Pence unelectable anywhere. Conservatives will hate him for the promises Trump backpedals on, everyone else will hate him for the promises Trump keeps. Even if Pence ends up doing most of the heavy lifting he’ll never get credit because Trump is an egomaniac. But he has to stick it out for four years because if he resigns early Republicans will hate him for embarrassing them and he won’t be able to cash out.

and the upside to that is that Pence will not be running in 2020. one more christo-fascist out of the running. not a problem.

He was about to be humiliated in his bid for re-election as governor. Signing on as VP was the last chopper out of Hanoi, and the next four years are just gravy.

I'm not so sure. You know, I always thought Trump didn't want to win and then he did. He is already back pedaling on all his hit button issues and he was a democrat for a long time, maybe he really was trying to implode the party but he accidentally won. My wife read an article today when an unnamed Trump advisor said Trump was stunned that he won. I can't tell what to believe about him and maybe now he is realizing, holy shit I won and now I gotta run this shit. If that's the case, I'd rather have him then Pence. It is going to be an interesting 4 years.

I discussed this with a group of Trump people who are friends of mine...their reaction was mostly "they were campaign promises...no one ever keeps them anyway...so long as he keeps the important ones, fix the VA, rebuild the military, and fix the trade situation I don't care about the rest..."
 
I hate that out political system has been reduced to Big Time Wrestling, with absolutely no rational substance and just a bunch of bravado, flag waving anger, and lies. glad that he seems to be backpedaling. But just stunned at the inability of our leaders to take on real issues in a serious, not BS elementary school playground thug like, way. Issues like our climate. Right to decent health care. you know, basic needs stuff. Bunch of fuckers.

Its one thing to not follow through, like Obama with Guantanamo, but to back pedal when you haven't even been president elect for a week, that would piss me off to no end if I had voted for him
 
In follow up to that, what I take out of this shit show of an election is that I cannot count on our national government to do anything rational to take care of matters that matter most to me. So I better do it myself. That could include building a dang bomb shelter, and stocking it with food. And for the first time, I am considering buying guns and becoming proficient in their use. Also, setting up solar power to run our well pump, and other primary needs. Pretty much thinking all the money I have put into social security may be gone or otherwise unavailable to me, so better figure that out too. On my mountain bike ride, when I was trying to disgorge my election angst, a Dad with some kids commented nonchalantly about the beautiful warm day. I retorted that it was too dang hot for this time of year. And that kids, better do all you can for the environment, as the government is not going to. So yeah, I was that guy today.
