Which is precisely why there is an electoral college.

Does not compute.

I am hopeful that the rest of society will clamp down on this shit ASAP and let these folks know this shit is not OK in any form.

My wife often jokes at my size. She said the reason I am 5'6" and 130 lbs is that if I was Wein size, I would end up beating the shit out of people I see doing this. I have almost gotten my ass kicked a couple of times when I was younger for defending a fast food worker from an asshole.

In essence yes, that's how it started. After that, the same old thing finger>hand>elbow> whole arm.

Honestly, the biggest examples of so-called political correctness in American culture are the way that Intelligent Design is taught in science classes where Natural Selection is not, how sex education is limited to abstinence-only, etc.

That's why you have two houses of congress.

Rural America is way overpowered.

Edit: that said, I don't think that this election was about urbanity; that's a byproduct.
That works for congress because those elections are divided into districts already. But when the election is on a national level, folks in bumfuck Nebraska don't feel very well represented when their election is being decided by population centers like LA and NY. Do you think candidates would even care about anyone outside the population zones if there wasn't an electoral college? I think that is part of what did Hillary in. The gray areas were treated as fly-over zones by her campaign.

It's a hell of lot more democratic than individual voters from Wyoming or Alaska having exponentially more power than those from California or New York.

Mind you, at this point, I'm basically at the "fuck democracy" stage. Voters, as a whole, are neither decent enough nor smart enough to be trusted with that kind of responsibility.

The voters must be self governing since half of them didn't bother.

Ditching the electoral college won't make people campaign in rural areas. Politicians would still stick to densely populated areas because that's where's the media are.
