No, you said "prominent republicans."...I'd say that a former president and VP are quite prominent...

As far as major players, I have 5, you asked for one...
other than portman, i've never heard of the others. not major. get Gingrich to support same sex marriage, and then you've got something.

You didn't bring it up. You are, however, arguing a point that is derived from fiction.
Adherents to Sharia law measuring beards and beating women for showing a sliver of skin in other countries is just as insidious to me as Fundamnetalists are here...and that point is not derived from fiction...

Getting back to the issue of labeling Trump supporters as racists, etc., which got turned into all GOP'ers are racists. I would not say all GOP'ers are racists, (etc.), but I would say those supporting Trump necessarily are, because of the stuff he is openly saying, repeatedly. I don't see anyone being able to support him and not also be racist, sexist, etc., as even if you prefer his economic positions (and I am not really sure what his positions are there as he is so hard to pin down), one cannot accept the other stuff he is saying and consider it anything else than choosing to support or at least allow racism and sexism, etc.

To me it is different from holding one's nose over some difference in policy, such as I will have to do when I vote for Hillary this time, because avowing things such as he has said goes beyond policy differences. So in sum, GOP does not equal racist. Trump supporter pretty much does. From a logical point of view.

So I still have you one...
portman is the only one that isn't a has been that i've heard of. i live in ohio.....so duh i've heard of him. he is NOT a mover/shaker in the GOP.
the GOP has been moving, strongly, in the evangelical (extremist) christian direction for some time. Cruz's father said in front of major media that when his son is elected he will turn america into a christian theocracy. look at all the support by major candidates for Kim Davis.
saying the GOP is trying to make america into a christian theocracy is totally different than saying that all muslims support terrorism. the GOP players have shown and said over and over again that they are going to return america to 'the religious values' that it's supposed to be.
very different thing.

i never said all christians are bad guys. i said the GOP is trying to turn america into a christian theocracy. not the same thing.

Yes,that is the Republican's quandary...they want to win,but to win they have to support Trump...so how do they support their party without endorsing him? It's a lose - lose for all of them...

The point is their intolerance is not happening here nor is this country in danger of being taken over by Muslims. Christian intolerance here in the US, however, is a reality.

So therefore, Hillary's statement pretty much is spot on, as I reflect on it. Seeing as I find racists and sexists deplorable (EDIT, and though not all GOP'ers are racists/sexists, those that support Trump necessarily are under the reasoning above).

they had their chance back before the convention. they COULD have opened the rules committee at the beginning of the convention and changed how the delegates HAD to vote. but they didnt'

I still don't see the problem with her calling a spade a spade. Most of Trump's supporters have called spades far worse.
I honestly think that the human species is far, far, FAR worse than Hillary indicated. It's not a basket of deplorables, it's an entire packing crate of dicks.

The day of homo sapiens is coming to an end. We are being replaced by homo stulti.

That was not the point I was arguing...I argue against double standards and labeling...or what I see as double standards...

If I have an intolerance towards anything it's stereotyping and broad stroke pronouncements...and the Mets inability to score runs...

You're trying to argue against double standards and labeling, but your argument seems to come a fear of Islam here in the US. Which is why I said it's a fiction. Only partisans will argue against double standards and labeling. On that note, if we're going to argue against Sharia law and fundamentalism in other countries, then Christians must be held accountable for their ignorance here in the US.

Mets fired Wally Backman this afternoon. After Collins' handling of Montero this evening, he made a strong argument to be next. But let's not sweep the religious equality problems of this country under the rug in the name of baseball. Not when this is happening in Midtown: http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york...im-woman-set-fire-article-1.2789052?cid=bitly

No, I never once stated fear of Islam in the US, I stated fear of both equally in general...what I want is to be able to discuss the negative aspects of one without being branded "phobic" when I see the other being discussed negatively without fear of labeling...

But are you telling me Baseball isn't a religion? I beg to differ, sir!cop0

Again, this is false. The media has convinced you of this, but it is not reality.

Are you pro or anti batflip?

One this point we are just going to have to disagree...

"Agree to disagree" is the answer of those in the wrong who can't substantiate their argument. It's a cop out. I'm 100% willing to admit I'm wrong in my position. Show me why I'm wrong. Otherwise, you have no argument and need to re-evaluate your position.

Neutral, just get in the box and stop adjusting your hat, gloves, and balls between every damn pitch...
It's just a game. Don't get so worked up about things that don't actually matter. And if you're not pro-batflip, you're anti-Latino. :embarrassed:
