The goal posts are those yellow things in the end zone, and in 'murica, we don't need no steenkin' penalty boxes.

Not real good with the camera, but hoping you guys can get a sense for the spectacle -- when the "box" (prevailing wind current) drifts north, the mass ascensions land .... well, literally in my neighborhood. So I wake up at 7:30 and go out on the patio and see all this. It's amazing and beautiful.

In the top pic, you can see the guy who came down between my house and the neighbor. It's fun because you are talking to folks the whole time. "Coffee? I think I have time to brew a pot by the time you touch down." "Nah, we're good."

Next weekend will be "Special Shapes," but a few were here this weekend. You can see the back of Pinocchio's head, and Humpty Dumpty from the rear over my neighbor's house.

Pinocchio eventually touched down on the road, where he blocked 'traffic' for about 15 minutes. Would love to use this as an excuse for why I am late to work. "A giant dirigible shaped like Pinocchio's head came down on the road. It took a while to deflate and pack up."
"We need to call HR, he's back on drugs."

The cats were NOT at all happy about this visitation. In the second photo, you can see Angie in the window frame. She was looking towards the open door, nervous about the noises of the hot air being fired by burners. Eventually she looked over her shoulder and saw the balloon just outside the window! and freaked. Poor kitty.

My friend had a great quote about them: "Like seeing the European ships."

Oh, you're way the hell up at the north end of RR, huh?

The second pic has my jaw dropping Dan. The envelope of the balloon is basically covering the sun and you got all the structures and cars down below. Killer shot.

Now THIS is ^^^^^^^^ is what I'm talking about ... I wish I could take pics that well. Totally encapsulates the cheerful chaos.

i was out for a walk in the woods yesterday. it's the beginning of winter, and so all the leaves are brown and the sky was gray, so i thought B/W mode would be the right thing for the day.

Golden Larch. Weather was rubbish for most of autumn, high winds early on stripped a lot of the leaves and I was too lazy to get out and do much landscape photography

Took lots of pictures of mushrooms again this autumn, this pair are shaggy parasols.
