ahhh......i was thinking that you were the only one taking pics. i'm using a Sigma 18-250/f3.5....and it is a pretty good walk around lens, especially when carrying an extendable mono-pole.

I've never tried that Sigma, but it sounds like a good "all in one" type lens. The focal length certainly is huge. I really like Sigma lenses. I have one of their 50 mm prime lenses, a 10-22 mm wide angle, and the monster 150-600 mm C series. All of them have been fantastic performers.

i really like mine. i've got one of the first generation. it's a 72mm diameter. they have made them smaller in diameter with the second generation on. i don't know if the larger one helps or not, but you would think the light gathering would be better.

I've got two sigmas as well which i like, a 10-20 f4-5.6 and a 18-50 f2.8. The only problem i've found with them is that they don't auto focus in live view, but that doesn't affect me, if i used the camera for filming it would be more annoying.

i've never tried to use mine for 'filming'.....so it works fine for me. i haven't had my sigma off that camera in at least a year. i usually just need to change filters according to sunlight/desired effect.

The bluebells are out in force.

Yup, despite me telling them their timings were all off they insisted I started at half 6 (it was closer to 8!) but since I was there and had tonnes of time to kill I broke a wee gig rule and sat with a pint out on the water. Magical.

That's the 2nd of 3 gigs I'm up that way this month - that's Loch Venacher, I'm back to Loch Ard on Saturday. Stunning part of the world.

Black Cuillins from Elgol - would love to be here at sunset, so much variation in the rocks along just 100m or so and the Cuillins always look great

Here's a non-eclipse photo from my recent trip - taken with my iPhone as the big, geek-approved camera was back in my hotel room. A smoky evening in Bend, Oregon:
