Wife took this of me on the beach in Costa Rica.

Beach was literally empty most of the time.

Very nice.

Picked up the wide angle today and went a quick wander (to the pub :embarrassed: ) and took a few shots along the way. Clearly needs a bit of thought about your shot otherwise it just looks like a google street view thing but I think with a bit of footering around it'll be a nice lens to have - going to put it through it's paces on my minimoon :thu:

I've got a 10mm-20 mm and it's weird how close you have to get to things to make the picture look good. Otherwise it can look a bit empty. Not got to grips with it yet

Looking out over Loch Tay.

Done on my phone but having a blast with this new wide angle lense on my dslr.

Went up to Stirling yesterday, I've driven past it so many times down the years but I don't think I've been there since school trips in the early 1990s.

Went up to the Wallace Monument

Also went about the Castle but didn't go in as I wanted to climb a hill or two

Also stopped by the Kelpies, rather nifty modern art that I actually like. Most modern art is catastrophically shite. They light up at night but I didn't want to stay for those pictures. Also, shame about the massive power lines behind them

Picked up a couple of new lenses....a Canon 24-105mm USM IS II f4 L series and a Canon 28-300mm USM IS f3.5-5.6 L series. I haven't had any time to do more than test shots around the house, but so far I am really impressed with both. Way nicer lenses than a scrub like me will ever need.

interesting. if you have a 28-300, why do you need a 24-105?

My wife and daughter also have Canon cameras, so when we take a trip there is often a debate about who gets which lens. So, overlap in focal lengths isn't much of an issue. We can use them at the same time. Also, the focal length for these two lenses is only part of the story. The 24-105 is fairly light, fast focusing and tack sharp lens made as a high end walking around lens. The 28-300 is big and heavy (3 pounds) but covers a fairly big range of focal lengths with L series quality optics. It is also weather sealed. It is Canon's answer to the "I can only bring one lens" problem. You could use it as a vacation walking around lens, but it is very heavy and very big for that kind of thing.

ahhh......i was thinking that you were the only one taking pics. i'm using a Sigma 18-250/f3.5....and it is a pretty good walk around lens, especially when carrying an extendable mono-pole.
