I'm no photographer, but I was looking through an old photo album from a work trip to Prince William Sound, AK back in 2008. Thought I'd share a few. It's a lot prettier there than where I'm currently working, up in the Arctic. None of these are processed and are lower quality images than the original files.
Fishing at 2 AM.
Our home, office, and science lab for 3 weeks. Chugach Mountains in the background.
It is raining stars in the California desert! 27 minute star trails, showing the perceived movement of the stars due to the rotation of the earth. More info in captions. Thanks!
I forgot to post this from last summer's trip to the a couple of ghost towns in Nevada. All illumination was done during the exposure, and is not a post-processing creation. The long exposure shows the star trails over a long period of time, the trails created by the movement of the earth.
I'm going up to join a small group of photographers shooting in the Owens Valley Saturday evening, shooting the telescope array or the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest.
And it's been clear there.
But not Saturday.
Looks like I'm going to have more cloudy photos of one or the other like last year!! Should be a fun hang, though.
These are the International Light Painting Award nominees for 2015. I have two photos that have made the final 100 selections, a great honor. There are some amazing images here. Take a moment and check 'em out!
