The search is over.

With any luck, the lift gets installed this weekend. Then I'll be driving around in a goofy looking lifted Jeep with stock tires and wheels until I can decide on the size, type, and brand of tire I want.

Lift installation was a success.

I netted 3" in the rear and 4" in the front. I was riding probably and inch or so low before the lift due to the heavy bumpers and winch.

The pictures don't look as high as it feels when you're getting in and out of it.

Next up, alignment, then tires.

Very tasteful.

Looks good, you can tell you've done a lot of work to it, but at the same time, it is very tastefully done, and not "over the top" like a lot of them that you see.

Meaning, it looks like it would function on both the asphalt AND the dirt, whereas a lot of customized Jeeps (imo) seem to look one way or the other.

Thanks. My whole goal was to improve the already excellent off-road capability while not ruining it as a daily driver.

It drives great with the mild lift and slightly larger tires. The biggest problem with all I've done (other than it costing quite a bit) is that the added weight of the bumpers, larger diameter/heavy tires, and higher profile mean I'm getting about 2 mpg less now than I was in stock form. Well, that and with the larger tires, it's geared a little high so I've lost a bit of power.

I think the next big mod will be going from 3.73 gears to 4.56 gears. That should give it back its pep, and if I'm lucky, it will improve the gas mileage since now 6th gear is virtually useless on anything but flat ground/downhill so I'm running 5th gear on the highway. The lower gearing should give me 6th gear back, at a little lower RPM than 5th gear is currently.

That's a couple months away, though.

Latest mod....better brakes.

Had a stuck front right caliper a couple of weeks ago. Rather than just replacing with OEM, I opted for a conversion that uses the front brakes off of a Ram 1500.

I've got a bigger master cylinder and booster to install still, but I ran out of time yesterday.

Also reading back through I didn’t see what brand lift you ended up with. I see dual rate springs. Is it Metal Cloak?

Interested in a trip to Phoenix Offroad Park? Or somewhere closer to you? Or maybe a mini long weekend overland trip?

It's a haul from you but Rauch Creek is pretty kick ass

I keep getting the jones to do a jeep build. But then I'd have to drive a jeep regularly again and I'm not so sure I want to punish myself like that.....

As long as Phoenix Offroad Park is within a 6 hour or so drive, sure! If it's in Arizona... probably not!

It’s near Steubenville OH. If you know something closer to you, I’m good with heading your way.
