The Baseball Thread.....

And the Rockies kept me in the season series with OGG and Phil yesterday by taking two out of three with the Padres. Season series tied up at three each. Loser buys the winner a 6 pack of microbrews. Helton had a good game, and in fact is having a good season. Someone on the Rockies has to.....

Ty Wiggington......

Jim Tracy has been really hyping him up lately - 12 home runs (ten of which are solo shots). There was a comment today on a Rockies blog about his hitting with RISP - .140 average...

So....todays game....how is he doing?

Third inning - two on two out...fly out.

Sixth inning - one out runner on second....ground out to third.

Seventh inning - two out bases loaded....ground out to pitcher.

He also grounded out with the bases loaded last night. What is the opposite of clutch? At least the Rocks are still winning today....correction , all tied up at four now...

THE PIRATES tied for first with the Cardinals halfway into the season. Awesome.

Amazing what playing the Cubs and Astros a lot can do for your team. But they are definitely heading the right direction as a team for the first time in a long time.

This hasn't been bumped for a while.

The Pirates are fading, the Phillies are raking and everything else just kinda bores me right now.

Yeah....the Phillies are starting to look awesome.

The Rocks just flat out suck. Even with all the pitching issues they are still losing games by crappy hitting. A perfect example yesterday. Two on for the Rockies (first and third) with major speed on both bases. Only one out. Tulo at bat. Should be an easy RBI. Nope - he strikes out and strands both runners. The Rockies now have lost three of their four best pitchers for the season (one trade - two injuries) and the fourth (Chacin) is hitting the wall innings wise. The white flag has been raised and the season is lost. They are even below .500 at home.

...yea...the pirates are sucking again too...and the giants are sore losers...and lol at the yankees for the jimenez nontrade...

i wouldn't have traded for Ubaldo if i were the Yankees either. they don't need him. just more Steinbrenner meddling. Cashman does his job again.

Well the Yanks could really use him, but the Rockies were asking too much. They have some pitching in the minors that will help them out in a couple of years. Besides, I don't think Jimenez would do well in the pressure cooker that is the expectation of Yankee players. They had a great interview with the Rockies GM this week and he actually questioned the great clubhouse the Rockies have as a possible weakness. Not that it wasn't a good thing - but that they need a bit more grittiness in there to prod the players to kick it up a notch. Obviously it is not happening now....

OTOH, the Rockies got what they wanted from Cleveland. IMO, good for Colorado for not giving in to the Yankees. and good for Cashman for standing up to the younger Steinbrenners who apparently learned quite a bit from their father on how not to do things.

as for the clubhouse, that's on the manager. i'm also leaning towards the idea that there's no such thing as "clutch" and "grittiness" is overrated.

I am not overly thrilled with Tracy right now. Too many dumb calls. I think a new manager is what is needed more than anything else, but the Rockies owner made very plain that Tracy will be back in 2012.

Why would the Rockies worry about winning when they get 35,000 idiots to show up every night to watch shit baseball?

Its hard to blame the owners when they are just making piles of dough emulating the Cubs model (why win when dumbasses just show up to get drunk anyway?)...the fans here are dumb.
