Yeah - but they MUST get by Ghana first. And Ghana is just not a good matchup for the US style wise. It helps that the referee for the match is a Swede....but not one with any WC experience. And Ghana are the masters of faking fouls.
That was awful and wonderful: We score at the very beginning and very end and play like dog-doo in between. Very frustrating -- especially the boneheaded play by our midfield toward the end where, instead of being smart and taking the ball to the corners and wasting time they played long balls again and again. Is Watson coaching this team? Also, that has to be the absolute worst I've ever seen Bradley play. He'd better get over this in a hurry or we're toast against Portugal and (especially) Germany.
Yep, and they can't play the "we scored 1 and just need to hold the lead for 85 more minutes" strategy if they want to advance. That could have gotten ugly.
Seriously....they gave Ghana way too many chances. They did play brilliantly defensively but you give someone like Ronaldo that much time around the goal and you will pay dearly.
I hope Altidore will be ok by the next game. They need his creativity going forward.
I'm from one of those ridiculous places, and the team has tremendous hometown support. And a Stanley Cup. Just sayin.Hockey is more popular than soccer, but I think it's regionally popular. Up here in original 6 land people are into hockey, the rest of the country not so much. That despite their efforts with putting franchises in Arizona and other ridiculous places.

We also had a minor league franchise since the early 70's, and I grew up playing hockey in Winston-Salem. Most people would have no idea that hockey has been around in many parts of the south and west longer than we've had NHL franchises.
