So my new taxi job is a step up from the old one in terms of pay. They are also nice people, however they kind of expect me to work at least 50 hours a week. I am ok with that for now, but in the long term not sure how I am going to cope with that mentally

Dayum that's harsh, but if they pay well, that should be a big load of your mind for the moment, right?

I splurged my first (upcoming :embarrassed: ) grant money by ordering a new laptop. I have a more than capable desktop hackintosh/windows dual boot to work on at home, but on the road, during performances and in meetings, my current 2011 macbook pro is getting absolutely embarrassing. The thing takes 10 minutes to open a new program, if you even THINK about going through a context menu, you'll be looking at a beachball for at least 2 minutes, I have to spend half my time optimising every single goddamn process and line of code I write for my live visuals to keep FPS acceptable, and sometimes it feels like the graphics unit is in the process of dying. Was checking out some of my "would like to have if I ever accidentally bump into some money" laptops, found that one of them was on a temporary sale. It feels a bit stupid to borrow money from the GF to buy a laptop and pay her back later, but I saved 450 bucks, and I have a laptop that allows me to actually work on the road again. Downside: bye bye mac osx. After a decade and a half, I'll be slowly transferring all my work tasks to windows. Also, since they use retarded keyboards here, I had to order it in NL, have it shipped to my parents, and then have them forward it to me...

In the last couple of hours I've developed a tickle at the back of my throat and my nose and eyes are tingling and itchy.

I clearly have coronavirus :embarrassed:

Had the fancy gala thingy for the grant I was awarded, two friends of mine also got a grant for a project, so we went together. Had a blast. Slight hangover the next day :embarrassed:

Was fun dressing up all fancy and seeing people go all out. The thing itself was a bit dull, but it was interesting/amusing anyway. Went barhopping with friends after and we kept meeting more and more people one of us knew, so from a 4 man start we ended up with about 35 people getting a back room in a bar, met some new people, talked a lot, went home relatively early. Good times.
