things seem to go from bad to worse this new year...

Had a small argument with a customer, who thought that taking my picture and posting it on FB with a big rant would be acceptable. I reported it and managed to get it removed, but my boss saw it and suspended me from until after the weekend. So this is probably going to mean I won't be able to pay my rent on time.

for about 3 days 2020 seemed to show promise :lol:

I am more pissed off that my manager pulled me off work the entire weekend, because he wants to talk to me on Monday when he is back, but he immediately phoned the customer to apologise and grovel. When I asked him to call me, he couldn’t because ‘he was out with his partner’.

So I lose out on about £100-£150. And this also makes me believe he takes the customer’s word over mine. Wouldn’t surprise me he will tell me not to come back.

What was the argument actually about?
 
WTF don't get me wrong, the guys running the taxi's round here will tell the customer what they want to hear but, behind the scenes anyway, they stick up for the drivers.

I hope the manager is reasonable but he is strange guy, can never read him. Guess will have to wait

I picked her and her son up from a supermarket. Her son got on taxi and she was putting trolley away. She had ONE bag of shopping. Next thing I know she has opened the rear door ( I am driving a wheelchair van) and she is shouting “This is ridiculous, you should have helped me lower the wheelchair ramp so I can put my shopping in back!”. So I tell her she can put her bag beside her, saves everyone time. Nope, she says there is no space ( it’s a van and she has one bag!). So I take her bag and put it in the front. She gets in snd starts calling our office to complain ( apparently I slammed the door - ever closed a sliding door on a van?).

Then, while she is talking to someone in our office, she calls me a tosser. I don’t accept abuse and tell her I am not taking her further. She starts screaming and shouting that her son is upset, which of course is making her son upset.

I order a replacement taxi, drop the off back at supermarket and drive off. She takes picture of me and posts rant on FB.

And I can see your boss going to throw you under the bus for this as well, customer is king and all that :facepalm: Fucking Karen's.
 
Guaranteed she's a scheme rat - and this is coming from someone that grew up in a scheme.
 
....aaaand I most likely lost my job. The company owner, who lives the high life in Spain, saw the fb post and wanted me sacked ( didnt even bother checking out background). The manager is trying to talk the boss around, as I have been s good, dependable driver for years, but no guarantees.

So off to the dole office

Fuck... Hope your manager gets it sorted out... If not, good luck and I hope it brings you something better in the end.

Btw, an acquaintance of mine here was unemployed as a designer for a bit, through the unemployment place he got enrolled in a free ux/ui course for designers that aims at getting people adjusted to what's needed here and into a job/connected to people from the industry. Might be worth checking out if stuff like that exists over there as well. He said the course itself was absolutely pointless for him, though well taught, but it did put him in touch with several companies.

@wok Congrats, the other place actually threw you out? If so, probably for the best...

Holy shite, woke up this morning, had an email from the Finnish Cultural Foundation, was completely ready to receive yet another rejection.

Start reading, after a few lines "we are pleased to inform you", sleepy mind goes, pleased to reject me now, are we?

Got a big grant to develop my work and live off for half a year to a year :embarrassed: I'm pretty stoked and amazed right now :embarrassed:
