Yeah, moving to Norway and Sweden was quite the hype about 10 years ago. I guess the similarity in language makes it accessible. Most of the stories I know are people that ended up pretty screwed as they completely underestimated how difficult it is to just move to fucktown in the middle of nowhere and become part of society there though. But there's probably more than enough people that it did work out for though.

Actually, my GF's uncle lives in Norway, he's headmaster of a school somewhere a bit north of Trondheim. But his wife's Norwegian and they've been together for ages before moving to Norway. As far as I know the whole moving to Norway thing was just some weird coincidences coming together.

Yeah, language is definitely a thing, lot of similarities. Makes it a lot easier integrating, and at worst most Dutch people (as well as us Scandinavians) are quite good at English.

Bass player in one of my bands moved up here from Amsterdam about 12-13 years ago. The one thing he still struggles with is the cold winters, which is perfectly understandable. :wink:

Wonder how many will be returning after the Brexshit disaster.

If the Tories get their way, only EU nationals with 'highly skilled jobs' will be allowed to stay, which is jobs of over £30K. I am highly educated and skilled, and the chances of me earning that amount of money are... very slim. Apparently the fact that I have been here for 18 years and have a daughter here will count for nothing and I will have to apply for 'settled status'. FUCK THAT! I am not paying to stay here when i have lived here for 18 years.

Even though I am far from a SNP supporter, I will vote FOR Scottish independence again in case of Brexshit for the above reasons.

I kind of assumed you were already properly unkickable by now :embarrassed:... But fuck that shit... I still can't believe they're going to push on with that nonsense. I mean, it's good for the EU to lose the dead weight that always has to whine about every fucking thing, but I still can't see why any government would fuck over their own population like this.
 
Got the replacement gpu, got a 4gb gtx 960 instead of the 950 I had. Ideal scenario would've been paying a bit extra and getting a 1060, but that didn't fly. Oh well, free upgrade anyway. Gotta edit 3 videos tomorrow that I couldn't do while having no gpu...

It's less that what I was aiming for initially, but it will be decent enough while I keep looking. It also takes me back into the city centre of Edinburgh again, which is going to be awesome.

The wife is going to Iceland with a friend so after a brief phone call to a potential client I have the whole day to:

Play guitar
Play Xbox
Drink wine in the hot tub
Blast some tunes
Maybe have a smoke
Cook some shit she doesn't like
And I've a ticket for a sportsman's with Nacho Novo at night so it's looking like s s cool day from here
