Return to the Planet of the "Hey Euro's its that time again" Thread.

My best friend in Holland has been in Luxemburg on holiday the past week. He seemed to have enjoyed it, although he had some thunderstorms.

So I decided driving taxis 7 days a week wasn’t enough, so I took on some addition translation projects . Shame there is no full-time translation job available (Dutch is not really a big language in the UK), as it pays really well. I suspect though with the inpending Brexit looming, projects will become more frequent.

I may have mentioned it before, but I can understand Dutch, but only when drunk :embarrassed: I think it's a combination of being Scottish and knowing a bit of German. I've had conversations with Dutch people where I am speaking English and they are speaking Dutch I we all understand each other. But we are all drunk :embarrassed:

Story checks out :embarrassed:

:embarrassed: You should go to Luxemburg, people there speak all kinds of crap. Most awkward starts to conversations ever as you'll have no clue whether the person you're talking to will speak French, German, Dutch or Luxembourgish.

Greetings from Aquiliea, Italy.

Kids have been back at school 2 days and Im falling asleep whilst supping a refreshing lager beer

I am absolutely knackered. Translation work took longer than I anticipated, so it was taxi during day and translation until early morning. I think that 1 REFRESHING BEER will be enough to make me collapse.

Cool! Italy is such a great place to go
We totally found the best airBnB in the Udine region. 6 nights, 4 people, mid August, 398€. Full house to ourselves, absolutely quiet neighborhood, very large yard, pet friendly (though you'd never know it because of how clean it is). Location is conveniently in the middle of everything in the region.

If anyone is ever interested I'll tell you what place it is.

Also in Italy at the moment, in Rome to be precise. Arrived Tuesday, Wednesday went into Rome on public transport for a look around. Nearly drowned in a thunderstorm on the way back out.

Yesterday, took the hire car down to Herculeneum and then went round the Archaeological Museum in Naples and had Pizza before driving back to Rome. 6 hours on Italian roads in one day is more than enough for anyone! Also weathered out another thunderstorm inside the museum.

Today had a trip pre-booked from before we left the UK. Did the Vatican in the morning including the Vatican Museum, Sistene Chapel and St Peter's Basilica. Then walked over to the Colleseum for an afternoon tour. Just as we get inside the museum yet another thunderstorm stared and we were stuck inside for an hour and a half. Guide was excellent though, talked through lots of stuff, and extended her day just to make sure we got round the Colleseum and nearby ruins as promised.

Had a couple of pints of cider in an Irish pub and then headed back. Now sat here with a glass of wine.

Tomorrow we leave Rome and travel to Orvieto in the Umbria region where we've rented a farmhouse for the next 12 nights. That's the chill out bit of the holiday, Rome was ticking bucket list type stuff.

Now in Orvieto. Farmhouse? No, very, very nice villa. This place is nicer than my house and I will not want to go home. The wife is going to be asking to redo the kitchen at least when we go back.

Not a bad trip from Rome although the motorway was stupidly busy and just chilled out this afternoon and evening once we got here.

Had these last six days in the Udine region and drove all over and down to Trieste. Didn't rain once and 32-33 degrees the entire time. Only complaint is that the people are not on average very tourist friendly. They at least leave you alone. It's been a great time though and I don't want to go home, but at least the wife and I have decided finally on where we're going to retire. Right on the German side of the Austrian border so we can have our mountains and the coast all just a couple of hours away. Well, the mountains would be right there...

My Google chrome seems to act whacky here though for some odd reason, but I'll have some more pictures when I get back.

Back in Helsinki, feels good to be home again. Now for a hectic month of packing my things before moving and finishing my thesis...

Still in Orvieto. Lovely place and lovely people. Visited Civita de Bagnoregio today. Beautiful place and well worth a visit if you're ever in the area but you have to walk across a footbridge to get to it.

Oh, we had yet another thunderstorm this afternoon, making one every day since we got here. Who ordered Florida's weather pattern?

Over a week without a post? Bunch of shitehawks, thank god for brexit n all that.

Went to see the League of Gentleman LIVE with my brother last night, except for a really shit song sung by Les from Creme Brulee it was fantastic, well worth catching if you like the 1st 2 seasons and it's coming round your way.

That must have been a negative record. I just assumed nobody wants to post in this thread anymore.

Anyway, had a couple of job interviews, the last one I spectacularly failed. And I mean spectacularly

Anyway, festival is over, not even went to see thr fireworks this year
