Played my first round of golf today

Just picked up a 2nd hand Odyssey putter.

Used but pretty good condition and it was great not £65 so will see how I get on with it tomorrow.

also, if you like callaway clubs you should browse their "pre-owned" web site. i've gotten some pretty good deals from there.

https://www.callawaygolfpreowned.com/

the Mack Daddy wedges are unbeatable. i have a 46° (pitch), 52° (gap)and 60°(lob).
i would stick with the Mack Daddy 3's, or 4's for the deals. the 5's are pretty new and you will pay for that, but they are a step better than the 4's (which is what i have)
and don't get the "raw" finish. they rust too easily. get the chrome/platinum finish.

Dude I played with Saturday, his wedges were completely rusted. I've heard some players like a little rust on there, I guess it is a legal way to get some extra bite? But in this case it was like tetanus on a stick.

Played 9 earlier.

My buddy is still nowhere near fit enough to play so I was meant to go out with 2 other guys from the pub. Neither turned up so I went round myself.

Lost 2 balls, couple of bogies, couple of nice long 2 putts and generally dugshit for every other swing. Still had fun.

Met the club secretary when I was on the practice green. He either wanted to introduce himself or suss out if the dude in the hoodie at 7am is meant to be here! Seems a nice dude.

just played 9 today. STUPID SLOW!!! the people on the course were causing it to be playing almost an hour behind schedule.
9 holes took us just short of 3 hours  , and we play pretty quickly if there are no hold ups.

i was at a 42 after the putt out on 7.
then the shit hit the fan.....took a 9 on the par 4 8th. :mad::mad::mad:

got back to a bogie on 9 for a 48. but it COULD have been a 44
this is what happens when you have a complete piece of shit for a drive. everything falls apart after that.

will be on the range next saturday. i HAVE to figure this club out. it is the difference between a par/bogie and a triple/quad.

Got two rounds in this weekend. Was a little wobbly at times with the swing, so didn’t score as well as last weekend. The putter continues to be pretty solid though.

That’s insane. Good thing you weren’t playing 18.

what made it even more insane was that when we started at 11:30, it was already 90°F.....94°F when we finished.
i had plenty of both cold water and cold gatorade. i take the bottles and fill them half way and put them in the freezer the night before, and then fill them just before heading to the course. helps to keep cold fluid the whole round. :thu:

My course is usually quiet especially when I tend to tee off but I did play on a Monday morning with a friend and 3 old duffers in front of us were crazy slow playing off the whites for some diddy in club competition.

Wouldn't let us play through even though we were right up their arse from the 2nd.

Shot 137 today playing 18 holes at Riverwalk.
My driver is getting better, and my hybrid play is improving too. I had some great tee shots finding the fairway on most of the holes. My short game is what let me down, causing a lot of blown up holes. Putting was much better today, but the greens were very wet, so not playing as fast as before.
Next up is Torrey Pines North

Played a tournament scramble Friday. We got 13 holes in before a deluge that stopped play. Even par. I won $215, 200 on 50/50 ticket and 15 for being within 15 feet of the hole on the first shot on a 100 yard par 3 (9'8"). I think they used 8 of my shots and got some nice complements.

you won $215,200 DOLLARS????

Had a 9am tee booked but woke up early so went for 7:30 and played horribly over 9.

Lost a bunch of balls, some inexplicably - I thought I'd hit the green with a beautiful 8 iron on a par 3 but it was gone.

Hit a beast of a 6 iron on the 4th, a beautiful hybrid on the 9th. A few nice 2 putts and one 1 putt but the rest was horrible. If I wanted to spend a chunk of money to feel humiliated it would involve a red head in some sort of catsuit :embarrassed:

This dude did poke his head out for the beautiful 6 iron on the 4th:

played 9 today.
it drizzled all night long and it finally stopped around 8:30 am. my tee time was at 11:30. the course was damp/wet grass, but no standing water and no spongy water under my feet.

had a few topped balls with the fairway metal and a duff with my 5 iron, but otherwise not too terribly bad. shot a 47.
the driver was actually working pretty well, not very long (200-ish yards), but pretty straight.
got on the green in 2 on a couple par 4's, but of course 2 putted one and 3 putted the other (was a LONG putt).

first round this summer i had to play in long pants. it was 62° F when i started and didn't get above 66, with a 3 to 7 mph wind, so chilly for this time of the year. so not really a pretty day, but i played not too bad in spite of the gloomy sky.

Back at work tomorrow so my options for playing are much more limited.

The guys from the pub play day time and my pal from the mojo thread was my main partner and I'd be surprised if he ever hits a ball again.

Kinda sucks but I finish at 3 (aspirational at least) on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. I pick Lola up from daycare on Mondays so my plan is to play 9 or 18 alone every Wednesday afternoon and possibly Fridays too if I'm not gigging until the light gives out.
