Northeasterners: What say you of this Mother of all Storms approaching?

Wow, winds just increased to 90 MPH sustained. Shit's gettin' real.

Stay safe east coasters

[sigh]. So, my folks live on Long Beach Island, NJ. Their house is less than 100 yards from the beach. They're already in Florida for the winter, and my Dad just bought a new car so he asked me and my younger brother to go down and get it. So, Saturday afternoon, we did just that and did some clean up in the yard and garage to batten down the hatches. My Mom's sister lives directly across the street, so they obviously saw us pull up, etc. I urged them to leave, as they were closing the only bridge off the island and were expecting flood waters to be 10' above normal. NO -- they have a generator. In the shed. 18" off the ground. They'll be fine. [facepalm]...Did I mention they're in their late 70's???

I have a friend who stayed as well, and he just told me there is already 2' of water on the island. Bear in mind, the storm hasn't even hit yet. He also told me the waves were already at around 25'. 25 fucking feet.

So, clearly my parents in are in jeopardy of losing their house, as are all of my neighbors down there, many of whom are like family. Of course, I'm most concerned about my Aunt and Uncle who are too stupid to leave. I hope they make it though ok. I don't even know what to say anymore. That is all for now.

That sucks :(

We have 20 foot waves on Lake Erie today. Crazy. 30 foot waves on Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.

Stranded at the drive-in

Fellin' a fool

What will they say

Monday at school?

I have Pepco for electricity and no gas whatsoever. So I have cascading hotel reservations starting tonight and each day thereafter for the next week.

I definitely wouldn't want to be on LBI and ride out the storm. I would have put them in the car kicking and screaming.

Got chased home by a hurricane...they're apparently going to start closing bridges and highways starting at 2:embarrassed:0PM...

They could not have been more calm, though. Like they were ready for WHATEVER goes down, and would be cool with it. How do you argue against that? Against old people who've seen it all and, hey -- what a way to go! We just told them to be careful and stay safe. What else could we do?
