Northeasterners: What say you of this Mother of all Storms approaching?

Somehow i have trouble absorbing this whole frankenstorm thing since im sitting here next to my open front door with a nice breeze coming through.

I'm hopeful they dub this on 'Stormageddon"...even if it's not the storm of the century and just some rain and wind

Sandy went by us with no issues but we typically deal with the threat of hurricanes every year. I believe the media blows things out of proportion to sell news, and plywood, and batteries, and water, and gas........

That said, if one is really bearing down on your area, take it seriously. These things can really create some massive damage, especially near the coast. As it gets closer, the predictions will get more accurate.

So, last night Carol suggests we go out to buy batteries, bread, and a cooler. I was able to point out that the cooler is pointless as it would only keep a few refrigerated items fresh for a day at most, but off we went for batteries and bread to our local Wal-Mart, my muttering to myself that Carol is over-reacting. We get to Wal-Mart only to discover they are sold out of D batteries and very low on bread. We ended up going to the Lowes for the batteries.

Fricking media. Someone was suggesting to me that Weather Channel charges premium prices for ads during Hurricane season and hypes the storms to justify the prices and make the advertisers happy. That is a conspiracy theory I can get in to. :annoyed:

They were talking "storm surge" on Lake Ontario on the news last night.
And 100 kmh winds...
The leaves on the trees are barely moving.
Edit: Oops. That's expected for Monday or Tuesday..

It was supposed to rain all day yesterday. Didn't see a single drop.

Never the less, the yard is pretty much packed up for the winter anyway. So, no worries about the wind moving our stuff away.

No mention of snow here, though.

I'll believe it when I see it. I've seen too many dire predictions that turn into nothing in my life to get too upset. I'll make sure I have gas in the car and batteries in the flashlight; but I'll go about my normal life.

This.....
Living up here in New England we know how to prepare for severe weather. My last stop for today will be at the packy for a cold 30 of Budweiser and mebbe some rum. I predict that unless the 3 horsemen of the apocalypse come riding down Rt 495 I'll be heading out to work on Mon and Tuesday mornings. It's almost no different than heading out 3 hrs early into a raging snowstorm so you can make it to work on time. The difference being that you don't need to shovel a couple feet of global warming first so you can get your ass out of the driveway.

The only thing I worry about is the water I get in my basement. I have the generator ready and plenty of gas in case the power goes out and I have to keep the sump pump running. I'll fill up some 5 gallon buckets of water so I can flush the shitter once and a while and maybe fill some water jugs and stick them in the refridgerator. I'm not messing with stores even though I need to do my regular weekly shopping. I may wait until this is all over.

Remember when Stacy Keach met Sandy Duncan at a party in Hollywood, and Sandy asked Stacy, "Would you like to dance?"
Stacy said, "Would I?"
And Sandy said, "Harelip!"
