Northeasterners: What say you of this Mother of all Storms approaching?

Stores are posting signs at the entrances that they are out of water, batteries, flashlights, etc. Home improvement stores sold out of generators. Every year we have a storm that blows out the power and every year, everyone goes nuts and all that crap sells out.

OTOH, I have my pork shoulder rubbed down and waiting to go on the smoke later today.

Did the same thing on Tuesday morning before I went to work. The boss was letting me out early because everything in my department was done for the next week and a half. And because I had too much vacation time built up. I was home by 1 PM, and the WSM was rocking within the hour. Pork shoulder on the bottom rack, and a 5 pound beef top round on the top. I wasn't going for pulled pork, but I sure as hell got some awesome pseudo ham. I sliced the meat off the bone (that's going into a pea soup) and then gave the meat another generous sprinkle of the rub I used.

I brought some into work on Thursday.... gone in 60 seconds after breaking it out comes close to how long it lasted. The beef turned out just beyond rare. I took it off the heat at 145. When I sliced it open Wed morning, it looked just magnificent. I had to shoo away the vultures from my sandwiches when they saw it.

Landed. Will taxi back home and go o the grocery store immediately. MTA starts shutting down to tonight and will take At least 12 hours to start back up.

Forecast is still pretty grim so I filled up some water jugs and some buckets. Got some gas for the generator and an extra propane tank.

Also, beer. Lots of beer. I will sit comfortably drunk in my electrified domocile while the zombie stormpocalypse is happening outside.

I saw an interview of a coastal dweller who refused to leave. Seems a bad idea to me.

What? You don't want to buy a generac generator for your front yard?

So you don't have the windows open?

Carol really gets into this stuff. She'll watch the Weather Channel constantly the minute there is a hint of a storm anywhere near by, she gets all worked up about having emergency supplies, and has spent all weekend agonizing over whether we should go to work Monday. I love her dearly, but this gets on my nerves something awful. I got an Email saying that all staff should report tomorrow even if the school closes. She'll have a fit when I leave in the morning putting my life in danger. Keep in mind we are nowhere near the coast.

New Jersey's famously blunt Gov. Chris Christie was less polite: "Don't be stupid. Get out."
