NFL 2017-18 Thread

The Jags have nothing to be ashamed of. They played a great game and almost pulled off a win in Foxboro. Bortles threw a lot of pinpoint passes and their receivers made some spectacular catches. Their defense looked impressive too, until Brady decided he'd had enough.

I think it was a little of Brady and a little of the Jags going to a prevent zone in the 4th, which is no match for Brady. You can only do that to him if you are leading by 40 with 2:30 left to play

Yeah, trying to milk a 10 point lead was their undoing. Their offensive play-calling in the 4th quarter was dreadfully vanilla. They needed 27 points to win that game and never even tried to get it until that were down 24-20.

Oops!

Great posts. I hope football fans stop and reflect on what Belichick has accomplished, when they say "take the Pats out of it."

Chad's right - the Patriots are the better team. No Edelman (a top 10 WR). No Hightower (All Pro MLB, and captain of defense). And the injuries on the offensive line at one point left them starting two guys at the tackles who were on the practice squad leaving training camp.

Belichick may or may not be the greatest football coach of all time, but I'm certain he's the greatest GM of all time. Bar none.

The death star is great at destroying planets. Doesn't make me like it any better. :)

But yeah, they are a good team.

Not to mention untimely injuries to Gronk, and not just the one in the last game. Gronk, as much of a 17 year old he seems sometimes, may be the most irresistible force in football...like Lynch was in his best season sort of thing - I know fans of Lynch won't like that but hey, just watch the Gronk highlight reel.

Yeah Pats were the better team and should have no trouble in the SB but it is one game and anything can happen. I figured since the Jags didn't have a big lead at the half the Pat (Belichick) would make the adjustments and win. I'd rather see someone else win but I think Belichick is the best to ever coach the game

No trouble???!??!?! I can't see how we'll win. I'm serious. I look at the Pats as a once-noble army now running on fumes, many of their great warriors dead.

The Eagles are young, fast, and hungry.

Either way, reading about how Eagles fans treated Keenum's family really turned my stomach. Americans really need to fucking grow up and quit the cowardly bullshit where the nastier you are, somehow the tougher you are.

A Pats win in the SB is hardly a given. The Eagles completely demolished the Vikings. It might be Belichick's last game, so they certainly want to give him one last Super Bowl to go out on top.

In addition to the Death Star thing, I have a Fogerty-esque "It ain't me" aversion to the Pats unis and mascot. That said, I hate to hear about that Eagles fans stuff and based on my one experience in Philly (not great), am not that excited about them either. As I said, I think I will just watch the game, hope it is good a little bit, and root for the appetizers and beer.

And as a Pats fan, the Trump connection really turns my stomach (though Belichick is on record as a Dem and so is Giselle).

TBH, for me it's more a matter of knowing how good it feels for the fellow Massholes who endures the 70's and 80's with me as fans. Jesus, those were ugly years.

Edit: Ugly decades.

I recall that. My brother's best friend in school was a Pats fan in the 70's and 80's. We always felt sorry for him then. Even as Seahawks fans back then.

Friendly is very relative. Bostonians believe in privacy, which often comes off as unfriendliness. But they can be incredibly nice.

Don't start me on the 'ultra-friendly' South. They are the mullets of souls -- smiles up front, vicious in the rear.

I didn't get too many details other than it isn't going to be silly like the last one. If they treat it like a minor league NFL and not a WWE version of football, it may be fun.

McMahon should go all in on the conservative angle and mandate that all teams feature racially-charged monikers.

Orangemen
All Blacks
Confederates
Yellow Peril
Beaners
Etc

Git er done, Vince!
