National Football League 2018

Tom Brady is very simply the very best QB to ever play the game.

No doubt he's in the top 5 (or maybe 10), but I dunno about the best ever.

Looks about right...

The maps are bullshit.

No one in New England hates the Jets. The Jets exist for our amusement, and if we're feeling charitable, our pity. We don't hate the Steelers, either, as we respect their colossal achievements as a franchise. We have rivalry with the Steelers, but we kinda like their fans (do not ever bring up the Penguins, though, they straight up need to be disbanded).

We dislike the Dolphins, if only for Don Shula's annual shit-talking of Bill Belichick, which only proves what a true anus Shula is.

The team we really don't care for is Denver.

As for who's "rooting for whom" in the Super Bowl, New Mexico really, really is not about the Rams. "Local fans" here are for the Broncos, Cowboys, or 49ers (the latter because way back when, we were in their broadcast area). And "kids these days" are aware that those aren't 'their' teams, and quite a few have adopted the Pats for obvious reasons.

I think Patriots-hate is now a kind of old story, receding as Brady just continues gutting out the wins and defeating Father Time.

You could make the argument that his team is the all time best, but with other quarter backs putting up bigger numbers without the same support, I don't think you can make the case for him being the best. Plus, he's a douche canoe.

Well, really he has done quite well over his career without having much of a supporting cast, especially in more recent years, save for Gronk - and Gronk hasn’t even been Gronk for awhile.

Lest we not forget, though, that there have been many HOF douche canoes in the NFL. Doesn’t take away from their greatness.

Skiing + Super Bowl is a great way to spend a February Sunday.

Most years when the Patriots are in it (sorry for the redundancy), we go up to SkiSantaFe or Taos, and make it home about a half hour after kickoff. Once we shower and prepare snacks, we're just behind game-time enough that we fast-forward through the commercials and catch up to real time somewhere around the end of Q3.

It's one of my very favoritest ways to spend a Sunday.

I just have normal TV. If I had that, replace FF with commercials with game, so I can get caught up with the commercials.

"without the same support" - the Patriots are legendary for not spending on big-name free agents. If you really, really need the education, we can list the starting WR's for each of the championships.

I'll help here: not a ton of Pro Bowlers, save 2007.

"put up more numbers"

Actually, Tom Brady has in fact put up staggering numbers, from meaningless personal stats to victories. But let's not let facts get in the way of saying dumb things about a ....

"douche canoe."

So, I guess we can simply toss out the facts because feelings. OK. Just wondering - which is the 'ultra-cool, totally bro-crush-worthy' QB you find likeable? Aaron Rodgers? Carson Wentz? Dak Prescott? Baker Mayfield? Drew Brees?

I'm not so fond of Brady saying kind things about his 'friend' Donald Trump, but if you check the backgrounds of Philip Rivers, Drew Brees, Wentz and others, they're not very likeable to me as people off the field.

The fun part is knowing how the miserable will continue to be miserable when the Pats win.

Yes, I'm curious as well. Why is Brady a 'douche canoe'?

He doesn't take PEDS, he doesn't beat up women, he's not a Jesus freak.

He gives his time to his Best Buds charity.

People I know who have met him in real life say he's very down to earth.

PSI of footballs? Unproven, but don't that that get in the way.

Well?

There is a slide show on MSN on cities that deserve to host a Super Bowl. This one hurts, but is so true.

Washington, D.C. It would be so special to have the NFL’s biggest game in the nation’s capital. Plus, if the league is worried about a team having home-field advantage in the Bowl, you’re probably safe with Dan Snyder's squad.

If only Tom Brady would thank Jesus for helping him win, and stack dead animals that he gleefully killed for his entertainment (Wentz; Carson ... seems to be a 'thing' for Eagles QB's to get all giddy about torturing animals), then we could admire him as a Real Man.

Because, you know, who cares if you beat your kid with a stick (Adrian Peterson), deny LGBTQ people basic rights (Brees), or beat people up. Or have Human Growth Hormone "delivered to his wife."

Nah. He's a douche canoe, doncha know, because he wears them fruity boots.

People need to get perspective.

When I say support, I was talking about an offensive line.

Easy. None of any that you mentioned, but one you forgot, or omitted for sake of argument.

RW. Russell Wilson.

Plus he is a pretty darn good QB in his own right.

Well, yes, it depends upon what criteria one uses but think of it this way:

-look at all of the criteria and Brady is a top contender
-combine that with the success which is often essential in determining the best, and Brady is still a top contender even though the contenders have been whittled down a lot
-now think of where the Patriots finish every year...they never get a top draft pick.

Bad ass. Brady is the best. One can name a lot of names but Brady is elite in so many categories.

PSI of footballs? Unproven, but don't that that get in the way.

It was the biggest story in the world of sports for months when Brady wouldn't give up his phone...then when it comes out that maybe it was all made up NOBODY TALKS ABOUT IT.

Let the hate flow through the anti-Patriots.

Are we talking about Russ "Jesus told me to steal your partner" Wilson?

That Russell Wilson?

Huh?

Even back a few years when the Golden Tate stuff was less clear, even Tate said RW didn't do anything.

Really not sure what you are talking about. His uber public Christianity can be a bit over the top, but he seems to genuinely be a good guy that does a lot of good. Even ESPN said so in the article I posted. And this continued effort to benefit sick kids. http://www.nfl.com/videos/seattle-s...Wilson-continues-to-visit-children-s-hospital

And, he doesn't yell AT fellow players, coaches, refs, pout, or sulk. So in answering your question "OK. Just wondering - which is the 'ultra-cool, totally bro-crush-worthy' QB you find likeable? Aaron Rodgers? Carson Wentz? Dak Prescott? Baker Mayfield? Drew Brees?" I choose him.

I don't have it out for Russ Wilson - more like trying to make a point.

However, as I sat on the toilet this past weekend, it seemed that social media platforms were aflame about his gal's ex claiming that Russ was a bit of a homewrecker. Which, you know: with all the JESUS IS MY BES FREN shit, makes me think he's an enormous hypocrite.

There is one point on which we MUST agree, though: we should never, ever, ever cite ESPN as having journalistic credibility.
