National Football League 2018

People who watch sports to only see certain types of plays aren't really fans, which is fine.

That was a shitload of excellent defensive football from both teams. In the end, the game turned on Gronk making a key play and Cooks not making one. And both QB's faced pressure, but one looked overwhelmed and the other ....

We had haters over tonight.

It was fun.

Excellent defense and good games can be mutually exclusive, and this one was.

I have seen many excellent 17-14 games that showcased both great offense and defense.

This was not a great game by any stretch, let alone a great SB. :ack:

Oh, and Jared Goff? OVERRATED.

It's hilarious that that national concensus on Mitchell Trubisky is that he is a "system QB" that "can't check down" (even though he played his second season under a completely different system, and that he was forced into starting his first season with very little previous football experience), when Goff, in his second year under the Great McVay, is the textbook definition of that very criticism.

I hate that term, almost every QB is a system QB. The trick is finding them the system that suits them.

I enjoy good defensive battles, but that game was craptastic.

The Bruins/Caps game earlier was easily more enjoyable to watch on every level, and I didn't have to suffer through Moron5.

Perhaps, but there is a difference between a QB that thrives in a particular “system” vs a QB that can make things happen when the system isn’t working.

I think we are not on the same page when talking about a system. I'm talking about the base offensive system the team is built on, that work on all off season implementing, like the west coast or spread offense or air Coryell. Not like a play breaking down and QB making something happen. Or the defense takes away a tight end.
