Baseball 2018

The AL West race is heating up this month.

I have to say, I find a great many pro athletes to be completely embarrassing individuals. This is hardly surprising.

I went to yesterday's Rockies- Padres game. Great day for a game, sunny, warm ,although the breeze was a bit stiff.

It wasn't a great game, but the walk off HR was cool.

Why Black put that Shaw in is a mystery. That guy sucks, and almost lost the game for the Rockies.

Sadly, Posey will be out for 6-8 months with hip surgery.

I think he’ll be out until late May or June. I’m at the River Cats game today, and they’ve been getting destroyed by the Astros and Mets affiliates all week. Nobody down here to replace his production, never mind his leadership. Giants need to tear down and rebuild.

His leadership will still be there even if he isn't on the field. I agree with rebuilding, but more by attrition than demolition.

The Giants already have $126 million committed for 2019, and that's before attempting to re-sign their free agents. With no farm system, they'll just be praying for health and for the other teams to suck. Just like this year.

Which will not happen in the NL West. The Dodgers HAD crappy health this year, and they still might win the division.

Not surprising. I'm not a Yankees fan by any means, but I would be happy if he got a ring out of the move. He's a class act and it was nice to have him on the Giants for a year.

As for the prospects, well lets wait and see. It wouldn't hurt to bring down the average player age by a bit.

If the report is true, and they got Avelino, he should be a September call up next year.

Don't know much about him, but we are not hurting at shortstop. You think they will try and trade Panik too and use Avelino at 2nd?

You could bring him up as an infield sub/defensive replacement. He would be especially helpful keeping Longoria well rested. But he’s got to show he can play in Sac like he did in double A first.

Yep. For now Tomlinson and surprisingly Panda have the infield sub job fairly handled, but who knows how long Panda can keep it up? We will definitely miss McCutchens bat.

IMO, Sandoval is done. He'll have a tough time keeping his flexibility given his injury. But I wouldn't be surprised to see them offer him a major league contract for the minimum with performance incentives either.

McCutchen should tear up the AL in the Yankees lineup, even if half of them are on the DL down the stretch. Hopefully, Oakland's bullpen won't give them any chances in the play-in game.
