How was that Evanescence show, btw?

It was OK. They had a full string section, and I'm not sure why Amy bothered bringing the band - the drummer was offstage for at least half the show, and the guitars were so low in the mix as to be irrelevant. She sounded good, but I missed the actual "rock" elements.

As part of the ZomerJazzFietsTour, a jazz festival on odd rural venues (barns and churches mostly) in the probince of Groningen, I saw this bunch of tooters playing music inspired by Albanian male-voice polyphony.

(This was a couple of weeks ago; I’ve been waiting for the TV footage to be posted.)

This was last night. When they changed over, I saw them put out a Troy van Leeuwen (sp?) Jazzmaster, which was my first opportunity to see that in the flesh. It looked a bit more substantial than I anticipated, and I thought "hmm, nice guitar." Then Troy van Leeuwen came out and played it - which was nice.

Chelsea Wolfe is not entirely my cup of tea on paper, but I think she has real artistic depth, and in the best of ways they just rocked the house. I was standing up front - this is actually about 10 feet away.

Not my video, but I was there!!!

Brittney can sing her ass off, that's for sure. My only trepidation is that she's 33, and there are songs where she hits even higher notes than that live video. How long do women usually keep a voice like that? I know guys like Geoff Tate, Halford, Dickenson, and some other 'old' metal singers can't get close to their upper range when they were younger.

I hope she can sing like that for years to come.

I apparently agreed to go to a Counting Crows/Live concert some time ago. My friend bought me and a few other friends some tickets. We had a great time catching up with old friends during the pre-party. I was kind of interested in seeing Live. They were good. We left about three songs into Counting Crows as we were bored, and old, and it was a week night.
Sadly this will prolly be the only concert I see this year. :(
