Weber 5E7M - Saint style!!!

Last week I layed out the components on the eyelet board and attached the hardware to the chassis of the amp. I really haven't done much until today in which I soldered the components onto the eyelet board.

Here are some pics on my progress :)

Components are all layed out in prep for soldering

Components Soldered Except Diode on left hand side. I will be ordering a few extra parts for the adjustable bias which will be attached here.

Back of Eyelet board. Will attach wires later on.

Chassis hardware attached for layout testing. I havent removed the film because I am planning to drill a hole on the top part of the chassis to mount the bias pot.

Chassis hardware attached on the front panel. Changed the lamp assembly as I am using a different jewel color for my build. The jewel attached is purple instead of red which comes with the kit. I may go to a white jewel - decisions, decisions,.....

Rear of chassis.

Chassis fitted into cabinet verifying alignment. I did find a phopa in the cabinet. On the rear panel of the enclosure, they never left an opening for the power cord. Speaker connection - okay. Power connection - WTF ??? Anyway I will just keep the back cover off as it will allow better air circulation for the tubes. If I decide to attach, I will modify the cover as necessary or I may just put a grill.

5E7M Update.

Installed transformers to determine footprint of items. Ordered some parts for biasing the output tubes. I will be mounting the bias pot through a drilled hole in the chassis. Will start to solder wires to pots and sockets this week.

very cool!

:thu:; I will bring it Saturday if you want to see it and what is involved - let me know.

Nice progress. Very clean looking.

Thanks Tele.

The balancing act of a work in progress and all the other factors of life involved. I am also planning to overhaul my silverface Vibrochamp with new caps, speaker and eventually change out the OT and maybe the PS tranny's.

I got to see this in person on Saturday...MS does clean work...mine won't look nearly as nice :embarrassed:

Hey it works, it sounds great. That's what its all about.

Hey, looking at that pic of the guts of mine, I see that I've got the red and white wires, and the blue wire taped off.

There's your mystery wire. I don't know exactly how I came to the conclusion that the blue wire wasn't needed, but apparently I did. :embarrassed:

Cool! Thanks.

Now I see. The blue wire is the 125v tap. I used the brown 120v tap.

AHA!!!

Here's your color codes for that power transformer!

Score!!! Totally cool Prages - that is what I was looking for. Where did you find that? I couldn't find that on the Weber site initially and now that you found it, I see what link I missed.....

STUPID ME.....:HB::HB::HB:

Slow and steady is how I function. Anyway here is my progress on my Weber build. It is a slow build but that is how I am. Got alot of other things to do.

Also after chatting with Tom Harkenrider, I am going to get a matching tweed cab and use a 15" speaker for this amp.

When I am done, more sweet times will be coming to Saint land.

Wired Circuit Board - Still got a few more to go but will do it when I get my adjustable bias pot.

Sorry I haven't done anything with the last post. I usually on this on the weekends. Two weekends ago my son and I had Habitat for Humanity and this past weekend was a 6 hour blues jam party plus the Acousticfest recording. This coming weekend I may get more work done on the chassis but I am also flying to Houston on Sunday for a training class Monday and then fly back home. I know that the end of November is impossible as I will be in Minnesota for Thanksgiving with the wife's family

I will get there - besides slow and steady wins the race. I anticipate "Fire in the Hole" to commense the 1st week in December.

Got a chance to spend a couple of hours working on my 5E7M build. I worked on the tube sockets today by soldering the filament lines as well as some of the resistors. On Friday I ordered more parts such as bias pot and 1 ohm resistors.

As I said before: " Slow and Steady".
