WTF: The Third Installement Of The Thread About Nothing

So I'm watching a rerun of "The Unit" from 2007 and I have to ask...Has Summer Glau ever played a character that wasn't completely whacko? Kinda makes you wonder exactly how insane she is in real life...

I got your unit right here.

Morning.

Ya know, this fukkin' company of mine...I'm getting really irritated by some of the crap that happens. Today, I'm working an "impromptu" late shift, because there is an after-hours project I gotta do that was initially assigned to someone else, who ends up was scheduled to be off. So, does the boss call me to ask if I am available for this? Of course not - he just has the other guy contact me yesterday afternoon to say that I'm assigned ...grrr...a lot of this little crap is happening at an all-too-often frequency. Plus, now I get to miss Game 7 tonight :mad::mad: We already have goofy work schedules as it is, so I gotta plan my personal life around them. One of these days I'm just gonna tell the boss that I can't do it (whether I have plans or not) - get someone else.

It's getting tiresome, but I got a possible iron in the fire...

Also about to complete my guitar trilogy...

Scott - I assume you are non union. Do you have more seniority than some of your peers now? Maybe these emergency shifts could go to a guy that has less seniority?

Non-union, and I'm in the middle of a very new pack.

It's more a management ineptitude issue than anything; I mean, if I wanted to speak up, I would tel the boss that I can't do it, but 1) I'm banking some brownie points, and 2) I'll shoot him down when I really need to.

Got a 13" Macbook for $100 today, wiped it and clean installed Mountain Lion for $20 and some hacking skills. I'm a happy man. It's my first Macbook and I've been wanting one for a while but couldn't justify the prices or find a good one used. This one was thought to be moderately unusable by its owner so I took it in, gave it love, asked Kerouac a bunch of questions, hacked into it and now it's like brand new except for a small crack on the trackpad which I'll be replacing. Upgrading the Ram from 2gb to 8gb for about $200. Total spending, just under $400 for a "new" Macbook. Works for me.
I'm posting this from it.

So Mrs. T called me at work a few minutes ago to tell me my 17 year old son came home from work high as a kite. She doesn't miss much and confronted him directly and he admitted smoking some pot with a buddy he works with. There has been a sporadic history of this.
:annoyed:
Phuck, I just don't know what to do about this right now. I'll call his mother tomorrow.

I'm not a huge anti-pot kind of person, but when it is your kid who is still a minor living at home (2 homes, joint custody, no pun intended), you have to take a strong stance. If he got pulled over or was involved in an accident, game over.

That's rough. Having been a pretty huge pot head as a teen I don't know how I'll handle it if either of my sons comes home high. I certainly won't do what my parents did and flip out like I killed someone, cry, and claim I never did it.
That's just a tough call. I'm no help. You're welcome.

While I sure wasn't the innocent type, I didn't like pot after a few tries, especially when it got in the way of getting laid one time (long story and my last high). I won't flip out on him, but will certainly let him know he is disappointing me. I know, that's a waste of time on teens, but certain things stick in kid's memories. I'll get with his mom and together we'll handle it. That way he has no weak link to gravitate towards.

In 8 months he'll be on his own legally and arrest records follow you for a long time. This makes me sad.
