The Official Jack's Place 2017 NHL Thread!

Caps will kill the Leafs for sure. If the Leafs get 2 wins, I will be surprised.

However, the Leafs will get better with time. Mathews got more even strength goals than anyone in the NHL. McDavid got the most points but man, the Oilers line up is loaded... mucho talent. I lowballed it big time... If Mathews was Oiler he would have had over 50 goals and 80 assists.

The fact is that the line up in Toronto is not anywhere near contender yet. The Oilers are close but I tend to think that they are not ready yet for the Cup.

Anaheim is actually scary. San Jose is missing too many of their main parts. Chicago is a wild card in that they can turn it on at any time. The Wild is scary. The Caps are big and bad... no doubt. Penguins have a lot of experience but also some key injuries.

Intense and coming up.

I'm still not sold on the Duck goaltending. Chicago is inside the Wild's head still. Really if the Caps are going to win this is the year for them. Great offense as usually and great defense.

The Leafs should get better with time...they are mostly young. I however seriously doubt that Mathews would have 50 goals and 80 assists with the oilers. In fact the Leafs have more 10+ goal scores (9) than the Oilers (8. Some of that could be due to the differences in the conference or divisions but Toronto was a more prolific scoring team than most this year. And come on, you think Patrick Maroon is a superstar??? His previous high for goals was 11

Yes but take the 3 rookies out of the line-up and what would it look like? And since you chose 10 goals as your cut off...Edmonton has 3 players who scored 8 goals and 2 who scored 7 whereas Toronto has none but has one 9 goal scorer.

The Metro had an interesting article on Mathews today with everyone including stars in the NHL talking about the complete game that it seems Mathews has.

As for Maroon, when he gets significant ice time he always does well...2015 playoffs with the Ducks he had 8 goals in 16 games playing with Getzlaf and Perry.

Hockey is the one sport that there are only a handful of teams that I root against and can enjoy most any match up.
The playoff bracket for the West doesn't have any teams that I dislike. Can't say that for the East.

Another example of the ref's having an influence on the outcome of the game..

Leafs won....But didn't..

Leafs were outshot 29-12 from the 6:embarrassed:0 mark of the 2nd period. They came out fast and flashy and ended up in the grinder.

But how bout those Blackhawks?

Being two men down in a playoff game never ever happened back in the day...

Anyway, we have to live with today if we still want to be engaged.......

IMO, Chicago lost as Washington should have..

Still early........

No one really looked to be completely dominate in their series based on game one. I didn't watch all the games (no DVR here).
Lots of games won on the back of outstanding goal-tending. That's going to happen. Flames can't win in SoCal still. They certainly had their chances and on Rackel's goal really messed up bigly. That was a game they could of had. I didn't think Caps should have lost. Like the Sharks they got off to a slow start but were able to turn it around. Toronto did give them more trouble than the Oilers gave SJ. SJ was really dominate in the 2/3/OT ...surprisingly so given how the last part of the season went. They might have been the most deserving of the win of all the games I watched.

I have tickets for game 3 at the Tank  It will be a loud building. Going to be even louder if SJS are up 2-0
