The Official Jack's Place 2017 NHL Thread!

Well after a few hours I'm changing my answer. Didn't see the Pens game but they appear to be dominating. Watched MTL-NY should be a dandy series. Watch SJS-Oilers, a complete reversal by the Oilers, they dominated the Sharks. SJ needs to decline the penalty from now one...2 SHG...sheesh! Oilers are living on the edge. If the SJ PP was even remotely effective they would be in a big hole but as long as it's as useless as tits on boar they can get away with it. It won't work in the 2nd round though

The Blues up 2 on the Wild, not many people were predicting that
Tomorrow should be interesting
Sunday night at the Tank...I have no idea what to expect now.

Once the Penguins come up against a team that makes them pay a physical price in the neutral zone, they'll curl up like the little sissies that they are. Just you watch.

Although I didn't say it on here, the Blues have been my dark horse from the beginning..Just ask my co-workers..LOL

And I managed to slip from 2nd to 4th in a hockey pool........Still early...

GO PENS

Blues were my dark horse for quite a few years in the recent past but since they let Oshie, and a couple of other players go, I have thought that they have been weakening and that they were the weakest this year than in a long time. I am very surprised to see them in this position at this time as early as it is..

I'll remember you saying this....

While we're at it what are your thoughts on this from the other night??

Yeah, that's disgusting.

1 game suspension?
Come on.......that's ridiculous and ticks all the boxes for a 10 game + suspension. Guy should get thrown out of the league for that one. There is no place in the NHL for that kind of thing. That's incredible actually. How in the world do you come up with 1 game? If that's not intent to injure, I don't know what is.....?

Fuck that guy.

In other news......The Penguins are taking the Blue-Jackets to the woodshed.

Blackhawks not dead.

Yet.

I know they have come back from worse deficits, but to be ahut out at home two straight games? Ugh. They lose tonight, and I think it's over.

So far the only surprise for me has been the Oilers. I didn't think SJ would make it very far this year, but I didn't think they would be down to the Oilers.
Pens look even stronger than I expected but losing Letang is going to show up in the second or third round.

Was at the Sharks game last night...not happy about the way they played to say the least. At least they didn't give up a Shortie. The GWG was a bad giveaway. And the sharks really never got anything difficult on net. Talbot isn't a bad goalie but not 2 shutouts in 2 games good, the Sharks never made him work at all last night. Sharks seem to be in a major funk offensively. Not sure they have enough time to fix whatever is wrong.

I'm surprised with the Blues and the Pens. The Blues I thought with trading Shattenkirk they were throwing in the towel and didn't think they would have such an easy time against the Wild. While I'm not surprised the Pens are wining, I am surprised that it has been as easy as it has been. I thought all games would be like the last one...close. That the Preds are competitive is also not a surprise 2 shutouts is. Pekka is a great goalie but there is so much firepower on the Hawks I would think they would have had a few goals

Yeah. That give away in front of the goal last night was one of those you could see before it happened.
Like watching cars collide. I hated to see them loose that way. Sharks played their game. Oilers just capitalized on a mistake. I hope they figure it out before the next game.
I don't know that I'm surprised with the Blues or if I just expect the Wild to fold in the playoffs. The Wild's playoff history has to have their fans pulling their hair out.
I wouldn't have imagined that there would be 2 shutouts but Chicago just doesn't seem to be playing their brand of hockey. It felt that way most of the year.

Seriously it only mean they won a game. Do I wish I had gone to that game instead of the 1-0 loss...sure but win 1-0 or 7-0 and it still counts for 1. If the Oilers make adjustments it could be a long series for whom ever wins it. The worse thing is it looks like the other 3 western series could be over very fast so they will all get a rest while the Sharks/Oilers continue to battle. Draisaitl is getting a hearing so if he gets a game that will hurt them (though the cross check to the next in the BJ/Pens series is MUCH worse IMO and he only got a game). It's been a funny series with both teams looking the best team for large stretches only to have if flip.
