They have fallen HARD in just the last two seasons. I didn't think it would get THIS bad after Roy left, but...sheesh. At least they have last night's victory (aka getting a "not interested in this particular game" gift from the Hawks) to hang their helmets on. It's really a shame - they probably should have tried to make nice with Ryan O'Reilly, but, whatever.
 
What are your thoughts on Marchand?..I can't stand the prick unless of course he's playing for Team Canada :grin:..

Crosby is from my home town and Marchand is from about a 15 minute car ride away...

Roy was actually a big part of the reason they now suck so bad. He wanted to play 1990's hockey now. And yeah - they never should have let O'Rilley go. They need to start over from the GM on down. There is way too much talnet on this tem for them to suck this bad.

Yeah I know but that's what it takes...multiple years of great play not just one.

Bummer about Letang. FWIW I thought he was the difference in the finals last year. My beloved Sharks could not handle him...and he scored the series winning goal.

I think to your other question, the little ball of hate should get suspended a few games but I haven't seen the replay so I doubt he'll get more than 2 which means likely no playoff games. He's actually developed into a very good player but is still someone to hate unless he's on your team

As far as Marchand and his latest infraction...Crosby stuck someone in the groin with his stick within the last two weeks and no penalty called and also broke that other dude's finger with no call.
 
I know. I wish he wouldn't do shit like that which tarnishes his rep. As far as the slash goes that shit happens all the time. Fingers get broke. Don Cherry defended Sid when he showed how the gloves have such little protection. Don also said Sid is NOT a dirty player, and Don is GOD!! Sid also said it happens to him all the time and it hurts. The groin shot wasn't even felt. Marchands groin shot the dude went down like a tree.. Well, at least Sid's not going around giving people concussions and putting them out for the year
 
Big night tonight for hockey. Some real exciting match ups. I may take tomorrow off work and do some recording and watch back to back to back games...Bring on the beer and the wings,(sorry Detroit)
 
I don't think Sid is a dirty player. I do think that slashes to the gloves should be called as slashes to the stick often are. The groin shot should be penalized the same for felt as if is for not felt otherwise the refs will have to start asking guys if infractions hurt or not.

Anyway, the acts seem beneath him since he has returned from his major concussion issues.

I think Kronke ownship is the major cause of them sucking. Every franchise they own turns to shit. Stan Kronke should eat a bag of dicks.
Change in ownership on down would help.

I would be pretty happy with that. They have the talent, the ability and the determination. The Stanley Cup is just very difficult to win.

I respect Sid. He's a great player. Future HOF'er for sure. I don't think he's dirty at all.

But I also think he's a punk. Likes to start shit and not finish it. Likes to take a dive here and there. Likes to whine. Likes to embellish. Likes to talk shit but then not back it up. Loves complaining to the refs. Falls down like a sack of potatoes off the back of a truck if someone so much as looks at him funny.

He is what he is. And he's REALLY fucking good at it.

IMO, Sid cheapens his game with all of the above Bullshit he pulls. But he scores goals. Big ones. I just wish he'd ACT like the player you want us to all believe he is.

As for Don Cherry being GOD, well, he has impeccable taste in wardrobe selections, I'll give him that. :lol:

Sid should have gotten suspended for that spear IMO. However that kind of slash happens probably dozens of times a game really. His happened to cause an injury but wasn't anything particularly vicious I don't think. Yes they should be penalties but not everything gets called and in the playoffs almost nothing gets called unless it is completely blatant.
 
As a Bruins lifer, I have literally zero respect for the post-Lemieux Penguins. None whatsoever, at all. The Pens beat writers naming Matt Cooke "sportsman of the year" the season he ended Marc Savard's career with a cheap shot says it all. BTW, Savard still has not recovered, and lives in a darkened room. Yup, that's Sportsman of the Year material all right. Hockey is a rough game, but it is also a gentleman's combat in ways.

Crosby is pure punk - diver, whiner, crybaby. He's much better suited to be a Latin soccer player. I can picture the helicopter parents that produced such a narcissistic nightmare.

And Don Cherry is entertaining, but he's also an aged fool. Don't forget that when asked to offer his opinion on concussions and CTE, he laughed and waved it off. He's your racist, drunk uncle at Thanksgiving: you can't kick him out of the family, but you try hard to ignore the dumb stuff that comes out of his mouth.

There's teams you love to hate but also respect (Steelers, to use a Pittsburgh example), and then there's just junk franchises like the Penguins or Marlins or Sterling-era Clippers.
