The quote, “The most important thing is to make sure the military’s funded, to make sure the critical institutions of government are funded and to make sure you don’t have a shutdown while you’ve got a Republican President, a Republican Senate and a Republican House.”

What he actually meant, "The most important thing is to make sure you don’t have a shutdown while you’ve got a Republican President, a Republican Senate and a Republican House.”

Democrats’ self-inflicted abortion problem
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/04/24/democrats-self-inflicted-abortion-mess/

"It all started last week when Sanders (I-Vt.) conspicuously
suggested that Ossoff might not be a progressive. He did so even as he was on a Democratic unity tour and was on his way to campaign for Omaha mayoral candidate Heath Mello. The reason that's significant? Mello in the past supported a bill requiring women to look at ultrasound photos before obtaining an abortion — a total liberal no-no these days.

Sanders eventually endorsed Ossoff, too. But then Perez took the whole thing about four steps further and declared that the party would not support any antiabortion candidates."

and this is the kind of crap that will get tweeto cheeto re-elected in 2020.
the dems need to just kick this issue off the platform. it's like saying "if your not christian we won't vote for you".
same goes for the 2nd amendment. the party has to get off these highly polarizing issues as carved in stone litmus tests.

deal with these subjects AFTER you get elected.

DEMS SAY TRUMP CAN AVERT SHUTDOWN RISK IF HE RELENTS ON WALL
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_TRUMP?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

now they're starting to wise up. leverage things tweeto cheeto really needs against the bullshit he SAID he'd do.

"WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Donald Trump could avert the risk of a government shutdown next weekend by stepping back from his demand that lawmakers fund his promised border wall with Mexico in a must-pass spending bill, Congress' two top Democrats said Monday.

"If the president stepped out of it, we could get a budget done by Friday," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Monday in a conference call with reporters, referring to Democratic and Republican budget negotiators."

He'll probably get re-elected anyway.

Dubya got reelected after appointing an unqualified national security advisor who allowed multiple terrorist attacks that killed thousands of Americans, then starting wars in two countries not responsible for said terrorist attacks, and after promptly winning the second war, immediately turning it into a cluster fuck. Trump has 2020 in the bag as long as he doesn’t actually start a nuclear war.

New Orleans removes a tribute to ‘the lost cause of the Confederacy’ — with snipers standing by
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-of-the-confederacy-with-snipers-standing-by/

"On the same day that some southern states were honoring their rebel heritage, masked workers in New Orleans dismantled a monument to that past — chunk by chunk, under darkness and the protection of police snipers."

"Contractors wore face masks, helmets and what one reporter described at a news conference the next morning as “militarylike bulletproof vests.” Landrieu said the workers were disguised for their protection."

[wow....just wow. contractors need to be protected by snipers and vests to take down a racist statue because the remaining racists might attack.]

"The Battle of Liberty Place monument, which honors members of the Crescent City White League who died trying to overthrow the New Orleans government after the Civil War."

Trump seeks 15 percent corporate tax rate, even if it swells the national debt
https://www.washingtonpost.com/busi...78a35c-2923-11e7-be51-b3fc6ff7faee_story.html

"By doing so — but not committing to measures that would offset the revenue loss — Trump is making clear he is putting a priority on cutting taxes over the national debt. It also potentially creates a tension point with House Republicans, who have spent years advancing a vision for tax restructuring of their own."

"When Trump proposed the 15 percent rate during the campaign, the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center projected that this would reduce federal revenue by $2.4 trillion over 10 years. But White House officials have said that the tax cuts will create such a jump in economic growth that it will create new revenue, an assumption that has divided experts."

“The tax plan will pay for itself with economic growth,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Monday."

no, it will not. that is the same reagan trickle down bullshit in a new wrapper. it didn't work then, it hasn't work since or yet, and it won't work now, no matter how many tweets cheeto makes. it has never worked. and it still won't because the rich are not trickling anything down. they're keeping it.
and what few jobs may be created thru this crap.....will be created in korea or china.

drain the swamp, my ass. we need to drain the donald.

lets be clear. it does work, just not for everyone else. i am sure it will make a handful of people much richer while the vast majority of us pick up the tab.

it does not work the way they have always claimed it would. generate all kinds of $$ in tax revenue. generate all kinds of new jobs. generate all kinds of increased economy.

it does NONE of those things.

The only way it would work, is to drop the tax rate to 15% with the condition that every business hires x amount of new employees at at least a living wage. Without forcing companies to do that, the board and the stockholders get bigger dividend checks and no new jobs will be created. But we all know how they feel about government regulations.

this sounds like someone who is afraid they will be killed if they don't give a glowing review:

"We are very proud and the president is very proud of what he's been able to accomplish in the first 100 days ... but we also want to start talking about the next 100 days," Spicer said.

"I don't think there's any question that the president has done a significant amount on the issues that he put forward in the campaign," he said, citing how Trump has signed "a record number" of executive orders*

*something he repeatedly bashed Obama for doing is really the only thing he can say he accomplished in 100 days.

I for one am ready to welcome our ape overlords.
