SLC, where he works, is a very, very different place than most of that state, which exists under the banner of heaven. Every liberal person in the state can mobilize, but they will ultimately be outvoted there. Same with us mountain hippies up in the SV area, who are joined only by a few neighborhoods of Boise.

I have a friend and his wife that are contemplating moving to SLC, looking for easily accessible outdoor rec & they see it like Austin, a slightly kooky blue dot in a sea of red. They're both ultra lib vegetarian LA sorta hipster types. They are downtown LA residents who thrive on the music and cultural opportunities in the city. IDK if SLC, from what I know, is really the best fit.

I think they can find those people. As you can in Boise. But it is not the predominant culture, as in Portland. A bit of a melting pot without any real clear identity. I like going there. Not sure if I would live there. They get pretty nasty inversions with smog in the winter time too, where you need to get out and up to the mountains to avoid it.

I had other friends that lived there about 10-12 years ago & there was plenty of LDS influence about. I'm sure things have changed, especially with all the big tech companies that have a footprint in the city now but I can't imagine it's completely gone.

Not by a long shot. You can find your pockets, but you are still an outsider.

“Keep giving money to senators and buying your way to the position,” one man holding a Black Lives Matter sign says to her, according to a video from ABC reporter Sam Sweeney. “I hope you’re proud of yourself."

“Go back,” the protestor yells and she enters the car. “Shame! Shame! Shame!”
I love this video so fucking much.

I hope they keep doing that until she resigns.
