Portman's D.C. And Columbus lines were deactivated temporarily due to how many people were contacting him over DeVos, and today he published a shitty Facebook statement about how DeVos was the daughter of a teacher... so the internet has taken to roasting his smug ass with "Well, my dad did X, so would you trust me with Y?"

Portman's career in Ohio might finally be over. A lot of people are pissed.
we can only vote and hope. i voted against his ass this last time, and i will again.

Welp....today the GOP eliminated the agency that provides oversight for national elections.

" his bill transfers the EAC’s authority to the Federal Election Commission."

Ok, so why is transferring problem to the FEC a bad idea? They would then be the agency providing oversight for national elections. I'm not trying to be snarky here, just trying to understand what gets lost in the transfer.

Then they can keep voting for the Republicans, who will keep promoting policies that benefit the rich.

The Democrats benefit the rich too, just in less obvious ways. It's all a hoodwink though, admittedly, it does seem like 'Joe average' is better off when Democrats are in. Same with Canada...when the left of center is in, the little guy does better but there are always people screaming about how the right will fix things - I swear, Canada is not far behind the USA in their polarization and the biggest influence widening the gap is ignorance.

My impression of the situation was that the EAC was created with a specific purpose and it's never been able to fulfill that to anyone's satisfaction. There's been debate before about it's ability to resit political pressure from the party in charge and dissolving it.
I guess the more important question is will they fund and direct the FEC to effectively safeguard the accuracy of electronic ballots & processes going forward? Won't know if this is good or bad until we see how it shakes out.

I just read a Fox news article that had "Alt-Left" in the title..... is that even a thing? Are they trying to normalize the "Alt-Right" aka "Alt-Nazi" by claiming there is a liberal counter balance to that?

Seriously... what the FUCK people? :annoyed:

It's not a thing, and yes they are.

Fox Neuigkeit: Berechtigt und Ausgewogen

The GOP is unleashing a landslide to divide the opposition. The doctor gag wasn’t a distraction from the The Muslim ban. The Muslim ban wasn’t a distraction from DeVos. DeVos wasn’t a distraction from killing the EAC. They’re all distractions from what really matters—organizing for the elections in 2018 and 2020. All the time activists are spending making phone calls, writing letters, and protesting is time not spent getting the bastards out of office. Which is exactly what the GOP needs.

You know, a friend of mine was just doxxed. I'm kinda not cool with this.

Agreed. It’s not news and they should have just sent him an email. It’s not like this reflects on his job. On the upside, this made me check my domains and one of them has my real info, so I’d better fix that.

Yeah. It's not cool. But I posted it as an example of how these folks just don't seem to have a handle on some really basic shit, like information security. They went after Hillary for all kinds of EMAILS shit but they are just as bad. I mean, this guy tweeted his own password twice by accident last week. I would figure that someone in his position would also be in possession of sensitive data even if its not being told to reporters.
